67 Chevelle

THATS AMAZING.....was this for your car or a customers car ......and how much did you charge to wetsand the whole car.....i take it the orange peel was from the clearcoat not the color coat, right?
thats an excellent job.......really good work

This was a customer car. And the paint was a single stage paint.. I took about 2 days to do and if I remembe right it cost the customer $ 480.00
It was a wholesale account but retail I would of charges more. Wholesale $40.00/Hr Retail $55.00/Hr I wish I could send the whole pic. they are to big to put it up...

Thanks for the comments..

Good grief, who is painting those cars? That's some major orange peel, at least from what I can see in the pics.

Actually since it's single stage I'm not as shocked by it.... if that were clear coat, I would definitely be cringing more.

About normal oranage peel for repaints. If you get them fresh its not to bad, but still a lot of work.

Maybe I have some good body shop technicians around my area or something, but even the jobs I have seen that they "throw together" (i.e. salvage rebuilds for sale) don't look that bad. Granted, we're not seeing the whole car and the pics could be really magnifying the problem, but that's some bad looking orange peel. I know if I were paying cold hard cash for a restoration paint job, those results would not be acceptable to me.

Most body shops color sand and rub out there cars before they leave the shop. 99.5% of all repaints require color sanding and compounding. Some guys will have a body shop do only the body work and paint to save money on a restore, this maybe the case with this cars.

It is a 69 torino.

Yeah this was the worst car I have ever done. But Even so the paint was rock hard I don't know when the car was painted. Most body shops do wetsand and buff out the cars before the customer gets it back I get a lot of that work too.

Is there a way to shrink the pic to post it. I have been trying to shrink it to no avail.

I used 1200 grit and then 1500 before starting to buff it out.

Thanks for the comments.

Dude what a tease, get some pics up, I was expecting some nice shots of a fully detailed 67' lol. We sold our 70' LS6 a few years ago, wish we held onto it now with their value :wall .

Open it in Microsoft Paint. Go over to "Image" then drag down to "Stretch and Skew." Enter the same number in both boxes, it should shrink to a usable size and format.
