Do you guys know of anyone that carries 6.5" pads with holes in the middle for centering on a traditional backing plate?

I cant seem to find them anywhere.

No they dont have that type of pad, I dont even know if they make something like that, hopefully someone can chime in.

Meguiars pads have a centering hole (7006, 8006, 9006). The hole is in the velcro only, not the actual pad itself (think of a donut shaped velcro backing that's glued to the pad). Was that what you're referring to?

I personally prefer the LC pads more because the velcro backing covers the complete back of the pad whereas the Meg's pads don't have enough of the velcro backing. What ends up happening with the Megs pad is that the Meg's backing plate (which isn't as flexible as the LC backing plate) ends up cutting into the actual foam pad itself, and that is what has destroyed some of my pads.

The quality of the Megs pads also vary. I bought some older, more used, Megs pads from a member on here and his were slightly different and of higher quality. The Megs pads I had received with my PC order from ADS started to "warp" and some became out of shape (more of an oblong shape than circular).

So that was the end of me purchasing Megs pads and when it came time to buy a bp for my rotary, I did not want the same style Meg's bp that I have on my PC. I'd rather deal with the small issue of centering pads properly with the LC pads, than have my pads get chewed up by my backing plate and eventually lose its shape.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I just bought some Edge stuff and some traditional stuff for the rotary, I want to see which I like better.

I have a yellow pad with a hole in the center, but mine came with a kit I think it's LC from Detailers Paradise.

You can get regular foam pads with the hole in the middle for aligning to a backing plate with a hole. I just received a backing plate from AG (#43-150) that is 5 7/8 inches in diameter with a center hole, it's made by Lake Country. You will have to check with them to see if the 5" backing plate has a hole or not.

The Edge single sided wool pads have the hole, as do the foamed wool pads sold by AG.

For foam pads with a hole you might want to PM David Feramoni and see where he gets his. I "think" they are sold by "Black Magic" but made by Lake Country, however I am not sure. David can straighten this out.

Hey thanks Change, are the single sided Edge pads 6.5"?

Thanks again

Jim

No, they are 7 1/2 inch (Wool).

I emailed Lake Country yesterday on the "hole" question.

They said that the pads for DA polishers didn't have the holes, but the same ones designed for the rotary do have the holes. (Talking CCS 6.5 inch Foam pads here).

I told him I couldn't find the 6.5 CCS pads with the centering hole. He replied that I should contact Auto Geek, and that they can order them.

In addition, I suggest you go to the Lake Country web site and look at there pad charts. You can get anything you want, with or without a centering hole.

Now we all know where to get 6.5" centering hole foam pads in the CCS configuration, or any other size.

Damn Change, thanks man! I am gonna call them up and order some if I have any problems centering the pads I already have.
