Hello all. I received a phone call from the owner of this 599 last week. He wanted the light swirling and holograms removed. The car had 500 miles when he bought it so there is no telling if the previous owner maintained it improperly or if the dealer prep was not what it should have been. Either way I was called and I went last week to look over the vehicle and see what was needed. When I saw the car the swirling and holograms were very light with a bit of heavier swirling on the trunk and hood. I told him we could do a single step all the way around and two steps on the top panels.

So, yesterday was when I polished it out, and it was not what I thought it was going to be. The paint was pretty hard and the swirls weren't coming out like I had planned. The sides took 2-3 passes, the hood took 3 passes, and the trunk took 4 passes with 105 and an orange pad on the Flex. I decided not to go with the rotary and just stick to what I am comfortable with especially on a 599!

They might have come out easier with the rotary but I didn't want to chance anything. There were still a few fine scratches here and there but after 4 passes with 105/orange they were deeper than what I thought. It was very aggravating. Anyway here are the pics.

Process:

Wash with Dawn

Clayed with megs white

Washed again and brought inside the garage

Polished with Flex

SIP/White LC

105/Orange LC

PS/Green LC

Pulled out side and washed to get all the dust out

LSP: Zymol Concours

Time:supposed to be 6 hours, turned into 10

Interior was vacc'd and Z9/Z10 was applied to leather, LOTS of leather.

I didn't take as many pics as I could because I was annoyed and the swirling was very hard to photograph but you get the idea. Of course no sun shots because it was raining and super cloudy. I only took maybe 3 pictures after I polished a section. Once I started I didn't want to stop and retake a picture, I just wanted to keep moving.

Here she was when I arrived, pretty clean.

Hard to see but this is light swirling and holograms

This is when I was finished polishing and was rewashing

And these are after being waxed

Beautiful car and work. Also on a side note, a good reason to always anticipate more time than initially thought for a correction.

thanks guys. longdx, yeah I will next time. live and learn lol. thanks again. I think its my favorite one too. fantastic looking car

WoW - very nice.

Isn't 105 with orange more aggressive than SIP with white? Why SIP with white first? Did this not give you the correction you wanted and you stepped up to the 105/orange, or am I off base in my thinking? Just trying to learn!

Thanks,

bw
