Smaller the better on PC/ROB. I like 5" Danase LC CCS and 4" CCS. AG 5.5 low pro are alright but they swell after a while.

I was very fond of the 6.5's when I started with a PC a few years ago. But I have now grown very fond of the 5.5 for most applications with the UDM. I despise the low profile pads in every which way conceivable. All the pads I use are non CCS, non variable contact.

I LOVE the Low Profile pads - so there! Please feel free to send me all of yours, I promise to take care of them and put them to good use.

Ditto. I have room in my arsenal for your throw aways.

5" danase pads for PC use are the best pads I have tried...

Some may think that due to the smaller pad size correcting an entire vehicle will take longer, my experiences have been the opposite.. In my observations, due to the smaller surface area the pads generate more heat and therefore, actually correct faster.. Another plus is that with the 5" pads, the PC bogging down will be a non issue.

What do you guys mean by swelling when referring to the 5.5" low profile pads from Autogeek. Does this "swelling" effect the pad's ability to cut/remove swirls or is it merely an annoyance?

I can't remember the rules on linking on to other sites so I'll post a picture off danase...

Is this the 5" danase pad's (CCS) that you guys are talking about?

If so, are you able to finish down to LSP ready with the green pad??, or will you usually need to follow with white.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm looking into getting some new pads (to replace the huge 7"ers) and not familiar with the variances in the CCS pads.

I voted for the 5.5" pads. They cut much better than 6.5's and I prefer the low profile as well.

Where did the votes for the 6.5" pads come from? Where is the justification that the OP asked for??

Funny you should ask about the Green Danase CCS pad - That green CCS pad is my favorite of all pads...

On alot of CC's I CAN finish LSP ready using the green pad using varying degress of pressure...

I like the 6.5's, partially (mostly) because that is what came with my PC and that is what I have the most of. I find that I can cover a larger area and I have more control over how much cut I get. Yes it is more time consuming, but I don't really care, it's just my car.

I started the poll after I decided to try the 5.5 low profile orange pad that came free with Menzerna from AG. I was kind of nervous at first because it did not leave much room between the pad and the backing plate that comes with the UDM, but to my surprise, I loved it. I did not like the fact that it was too thin, but man did it cut a lot faster than any 6.5 pad. I went ahead and ordered the 5.5 CCS pads from Danase. I'll reserve the 6.5's to use with my new Flex:woot2:. From now on, my UDM will only see the 5.5's.

THis thread has me really anxious. Autogeek has a special on 5.5" pads right now....2 orange and 2 white for 14.99. I'm placing the order tomrrow and am pretty anxious to try them out. I'm currently using Propel 7" pads so I'm sure the jump will be huge and hopefully it will infact cut faster.

I have the pads on special as well as the CCS pads. I would get the 5.5" LC CCS pads but thats just me. I received 6 orange low pros free with the purchase of my UDM and Menz polishes. I don't like them nearly as much as my low pro CCS's.

Why? What's the big difference between the Regular LC 5.5" Low Profile Pads and the LC CCS 5.5" pads? What I'm asking is not their claimed differences, but why you like one over the other.

I didn't think the 5.5" low pros on special were even LC. I thought the $14.99 orange/white special were the same brand as the 6 pad 5.5" orange closeouts. I have the orange closeout pads they are handing out. The foam feels quite a bit different to answer your question. I don't know how those LC, non CCS pads are though. I bet they are the exact same foam so i wouldn't hesitate. The orange closeout pads aren't terrible but I don't plan on using them on anything serious, they are just too stiff for me. I wish I could post some links to make this easier to differentiate between pads.
