4" pads?

That looks pretty good.

I mean, all you REALLY need is a 3.5" backing plate and the pads. I'd go with orange, white, black, and maybe either red OR blue. Stay away from the yellow...I'm talking from experience.

If you don't want the CCS style pads take a look at what Exceldetail offers:

3.5^^ Hook & Loop Flexiplate

4^^ Erasure Turbo Pads

The kit you reference uses a 2 3/4 inch backing plate that needs an adapter (supplied) to work on a DA (your 7424). I'd personally rather use a BP that is made for a DA and doesn't need that adapter.

And like Casey (The Hulk) mentioned, stay away from the 4" yellow pads.

Same here regarding the adaptor, but I can see the value of the smaller backing plate as it'd allow the use of 3.5" PFW pads for serious correction. Never had any cookie-cutter type problems from using the smaller plate with 4" pads, but then I never seem to have those issues the way some people do so YMMV.

And ...stay away from the 4" yellow pads.

Yeah. If orange 4" can't do it (or if those make you nervous with regard to unintended consequences, which is understandable) I'd go with the 3.5" PFW; infinitely better than the yellow 4" in every way (IMO). Well, the 4" yellow do make nice backing pads for MF bonnets.

I can echo the yellow pad comments....it took me about 11 seconds to realize I wasted money on that three-pack. PFW here I come.

I'm not a fan of the CCS pads - I wasn't in 5.5" sizes, which means I was pretty dumb to even try 'em in the 4" size. So much for the money wasted on that three-pack. (See a trend here? :D)

Orange and white (flat) are my workhorses, and I'm even liking the black & red as well. In the past, I generally just used 5.5" pads for glazing or LSPing by PC, but the 4" pads are really great...I've noticed no increase in time with the smaller pad, and I love 'em around contours, door handles, yada yada.

Anybody want to buy some 4" yellow pads? :lol

I use mine to scrub my garage floor and driveway now. A bit of DPD and a pass of the yellow foam on the PC makes my epoxy finished garage floor shiiiiiine. Don't use much pressure, though. It'll mar up the floor if you're not careful. :o

Hahaha.

I'm going to start using my yellow pads to clean tires.....A little APC + 4" yellow pads = jet black tires. :waxing:

lol i agree, i used my yellow 6.5" pad on black car because i couldnt get the dam scratches or swirls out with orange pad and it made it worse. I will never use a yellow again. Im getting 4" pads for better correction.

I was lookin at the kit bc it is a great value. I would not mind ordering the ones from Excel as I am planning on ordering some other things from their anyway. So now my question is would the pads listed on Excel be better then the LC CCS pads? I have only used 5.5" LC CCS pads, I have only detailed 2 cars, I am still trying to absorb all I can before I get out there and venture past my own cars.

I understand what Orange and White are for, would Black be used for a glaze and the blue/red for LSP?

Not sure that I'd say they are better, but I've always been pleased with the pads that Excel sells. I was just giving you an alternative to the CCS style of pad. You'll need to decide if you want the CCS style (dimples) or not.

I use a black or grey pad for most LSP/glaze applications. Sometimes I'll use a very light cut polish pad for a product like Z-AIO or something with a little cut like VM (Vanilla Moose). You'll need to look at what the pad vendor says because not all colors are the same cut from all manufacturers.

Excel pads have the same description as LC CCS. I was just lookin to see what others feel about the "flat" pads and the CCS? As I have only used CCS.

im ordering the LC CCS 4" pads and i also have only used 6.5" CCS pads. I feel just to stick with LC, seem to be very good and the dimple pads. Actually i dont know cause i didnt get good results, but then again i dont think i gave alot of pressure to work it in and also 6.5" dont do alot of correction. :) im ordering from AG

Did you guys expect to use them and not get any marring? There designed to cut. Dangit, if those of you who are inexperienced with certain products, dont buy them until you have done some research!

Yellow pad compounds have a purpose, theyre designed to quickly and EFFECTIVELY cut a surface, in very short order. Especially a 4" pad!

I was introduced to this GMC about a year or so ago. It happened to reside adjacent to a sprinkler system, and it was not a daily driver. So there it sat, day in and day out, getting watered, and etched. If it were not for the 4" yellow 1.25" pads, I'd probably still be polishing it out.

This shot immediatelyabove and below shows the top half of the bed, polished out with a 4" yellow pad/System3/Optimum Compound.

Then onto a 4" Orange pad, with Optimum Polish, and UPP.

Thank you 4" yellow pad(s)!!
