3rd pic post - Twin Turbo V12 anyone? :)

This badboy is a new addition to our garage, and let me just say that if you get a chance to drive one of these things..take it! You might want a clean pair of shorts too :) Before anyone gets excited, I know I still have to go down and do the exhaust tips. Sometimes I just have to go down the the garage, stare and

whoa i didnt know the 65 AMG was here in the US..

does it really smoke the tires if you push off too hard?

paying 165k for a car.. youd expect it to not have orange peel..

Ack you are right - I did miss the wheel wells! I'll have to go down and complete the job with the wheel wells and exhaust tips tonight.

Ok since I'm new to the forum - and it's probably pretty remedial, but what the heck is orange peel?

Not sure if you guys noticed, but the entire front and about a foot of the front of the hood is covered with 3m scotchcal clear bra..

Justvisiting - there aren't many around, just 400 made in 06 or so. If you turn the trac control off you will end up sideways in a hurry. I broke the tires loose at 85mph on the highway and hit 145 in the blink of an eye. As far as from a dead stop, you can pretty much (if you have more money than brains) leave rubber indefinitely...first time I tried taking off with like half throttle from a stoplight, it took off reasonably quickly, then the turbos hit, and while trying to keep it from going sideways I left probably 300ft of black...lol...

I should try to get some interior shots after I hit the active ventilated seats with some z10 :) As Tom P had suggested, sweet leather smell.

The exterior of the car had a 'free' xylon paint sealant treatment from the dealer recently...which I've never heard of..not sure if you guys know anything about it. I plan on hitting it with a little AIO and SG anyway.

The entire headliner and pillar trim is actually suede...not quite sure what to use on that...?

Amazing car.

Orange peel is that look like the one you are in the reflection of. See how the lines are not crisp, and there looks to be a texture to it (that looks like the peel of an orange)? That is orage peel

Thanks, and thanks, that makes a lot of sense...I do see it. Is that something that's from the factory, and under the clearcoat or something a little work can correct?

orange peel is typical for most Benz and BMW's.. also its on my 350Z.. it plagues my garage ahaha..

you can get rid of it through wet sanding the car and then polishing it out.. but thats a bit extreme.. if you dont mind it, then dont worry about it.. im just amazed MB didnt try to put effort into a better paint machine for its most powerful model, excluding the SLR..

for more info on the sanding.. see the S2000 thread a few threads down.. thats basically the jist of it.

people say theyd rather have thick clear than thin and smooth clear.. which is to say better safe than sorry..

Ya, I'm not going to mess with wetsanding the car for something that finicky, no offense to anyone that thinks it's hideous... I think I'll stick with better safe than sorry on this one.. ;)

To be honest Z10 smells more like Armor All than leather to me. And It really doesn't make the leather feel all that much better than Lexol conditioner--which doesn't do much to begin with.

V12 Bi-Turbo means that it has a twin turbo 12 cylinder engine that makes 604BHP and 700+ ft/lbs. of torque. Basically, power on demand!!
