3m waived compounding pads

Guys I've struggle finding some good foam cutting pads locally, since I don't have a credit card to order online. Today I went to a local paint shop and ask for some foam pads with medium to light cutting action. The guy offered me a 3m waived compounding pad for $13, I didn't pulled the trigger until I consult you guys before. My question: Is the 3m waived compounding pad similar to LC's or Excel cutting pads?

He also had a black waived pad for $17, which he said was for polishing, but didn't know the grade of cutting action. Opinions, Ideas Welcome.

If a 8'' pad is used on a 6'' velcro backing plate could it affect the friction generated by the pc and that for take away some of the cutting power/action?

I have the orange waffle pads. They are a little firmer than the orange Excel, but not by much. If the price is right, its a good pad to get.

Did the black pad have really tall fingers? Almost looks like sound deadener? Thats a decent glazing pad.

I have used the polishing pad on my Rotary and it worked well and i really liked it. the EDGE 2000 pads now have the waffle also which makes me very happy.
