I did my dark blue Jetta yesterday. i started with the 3M SMR for dark cars. I have used it before by hand with decent results. But now since i got my PC i decided to see how good of a job it could do with an orange pad and speed 5. it went on easy but got real powedery and was very hard to remove with an MF towel. so after about doing half the car with the 3m the pad started producing gray cumblies and my arm was getting tired from all the rubbing from removing it. So, i switched to my #9 and the yellow pad which i have used many times with my pc. The rest of the car went much better and i didnt have to spend alot of time removing it, it comes off after a couple of good wipes. I topped it with #26 by hand which i find pretty easy to go work with.

Whats everyones view on these 2 products? the car is still in the garage today so i havent seen the car in the sunlight to get a real good assesment of how good the products worked. it looks pretty good under my flourecent lights in the garage.

I used SMR on my WRB WRX for the first time yesterday and I was astonished to see the amazing results. There were times where I thought there was no way it was coming off though. This is all by hand, 100% cotton towels. I washed (Meguires GC) and clayed (BF) prior to the SMR. I was running out of time so I did not have time to wax it, I just did a quick once over with Clear Pearl. I have not used #9, so I can not be of any help with the comparison, but I will say I was very impressed with SMR, but it was a real PITA to work with. I am going to finish the rest of the car with SMR and then go with the BF two step.

I stopped using SMRs along time ago but at one time I did have both #9 and 3m. I saw little difference in their performance

3M PI III machine glaze seem to do a better job

I have some of this product on my shelf, but I have not thought of using it instead of SMR. How are you using this product - on a PC or rotary buffer, and how long do you work it?
