3M SMR Dark/light

I had ordered 3M's SMR but the rep didn't ask me if I wanted the light or dark one. I have a silver car. Now I read on an earlier thread that it doesn't matter which one you use. The dark smr uses fillers and if that is used on light colored cars then all you need to do is wash it afterwards. Is this true? Has anyone used the dark 3M SMR on a light colored car and have had no problems?

Thanks

I used 3m SMR for dark cars on my moms gold sebring the other day and it worked fine. YEs it has dark fillers but nothing else, a good dawn wash will get all of them out and you should have no problem using them.

no difference between the two except the fillers. I always follow up my SMR with a good PCL of some type (usually IHG) and it takes care of the fillers. :)

Yes, I have both and have used both on light and dark cars. It really is best to keep to the suggested color scheme. The pigment of the fillers will alter the tint of the color. You are just working against yourself to do otherwise.:nono

Use the toll free number on the

back of the bottle to call 3M.

They are very helpful and the man

I spoke to with the same question

said it did not matter.

Thanks for the replays guys but with the mixed suggestions I decided to exchange it for the light "version" just to be on the safe side.

I use both products for the right shade car. I notice minute quantities of the compund can remain in small stone chips so using the light SMR on a dark colored car could leave visible pinpoints.
