3m rubbing compound follow by nxt?

i know it is recommended that you apply a polish after you used 3m rubbing compound, but i dont have any have home, but i ran out of polish. can i just use nxt instead and skipp the polish step?

or should i really polish and then used nxt?

chances are the rubbing compound left lots of hazing witch will have to be cleared up with a finer polish.
