Supposed to be non filling and to be used after rub it II compound. I have used on customers cars and never had complaints but is it really non filling? Also anyone hear about the 3m swirl eliminator yet?

Wipe it down with 50/50 water/isopropanol next time and see if the swirls reappear. There's your answer.

I just checked the product charts and it says no fillers like the swirl mark remover. I will do the wipe down when I use again

I've never seen any signs of filling with the 05937 and I've used a lot of it. Good stuff, works well by hand/PC/Cyclo and rotary. Some paints *do* benefit from a final, light burnishing with a finer polish, but it's by no means necessary in most cases.
FWIW, this and it's stronger cousin the PI-III RC 05933 (which also works well with any application method) are the only 3M polishes/compounds/etc. that I use.

Accumulator, I previously used the gray waffle pads, but a friend of mine said Megs 9000 pads on the rotary are the way to go and leave a great finish. Weather has been lousy and have yet to do my truck. Been procrastinating. I have a PC and Dewalt 849. Megs 83, 80 and 3m 05937. I will have to spot test I guess. Not sure if I want to go PC with 80 or rotary with 05937.

Those are two pretty different approaches...the 05937 by rotary will do a lot more correction than the #80 by PC even though the #80 probably starts out a little more aggressive (more aggressive product-wise that is, the rotary more than makes up for it IMO).
FWIW I never liked waffle pads (but that's just me) and I generally use polishing pads (e.g., Meg's 8006) rather than finishing pads with 05937. As long as the polishing pad doesn't contribute any functional cut (thus being capable of maybe leaving micro marring) I'd rather use that than a finishing pad. So I guess it'd depend on the paint.

I am torn between products right now. I try to keep at least 2 pads for each polish I use. The thing with the dimiishing abrasives is areas like a high point where you cant feather the trigger on the rotary. With the 3m you can cut the rpm's and work it a bit. My friend who is my old boss from the detail shop was actually following up his rub it III compound with 05937 the 9000 pad. He said he didnt get any swirls from the 9000. I cant see it doing much correction though. Thanks for the input.

Another question- I have never used 05937 solely on a vehicle as people do with 80. They seem to be in the same category as far as cutting power. I always compounded first. How does it do with minor paint correction.

wagsjr- I never tried the 05937/rotary/finishing pad combo but based on what I've done with 05937/rotary/*light* polishing pad I think it'll still do some correction. The polishing pad I used didn't contribute any cut of its own yet I was able to remove some marring from Audi clear. IMO the 05937 would be safer on thin spots than the #80 but that's *just* my gut feeling.
I've done entire vehicles with just 05937, most notably the WRX I used to have. Didn't even use a rotary, yet I was able to remove all the marring except for a few deep scratches that I'd rather live with (than thin the clear that much) anyhow. It did take mutliple passes in some spots but I didn't have to spend forever at it. IMO it'll depend on how severe the marring is and how hard the paint is.
As best I could ever tell, the stuff for light/dark cars is only different with regard to the pigment used to tint the fillers. No *functional* difference that I could discern, at least not with regard to cut. While I wouldn't use the "dark" stuff on a white car, basically you'd never know the difference.
