3M Perfect It Glaze vs. Ultrafina SE order?

Hey all, I have what seems like a pretty simple question however I can't figure out the answer. Firstly, when should a glaze be used in relation to a polish as far as your paint cleaning process is concerned? Wash/clay/polish/glaze/wax? Or wash/clay/glaze/polish/wax? I have both the 3M Perfect It Glaze for dark vehicles as well as the 3M Ultrafina SE. I always thought I should use the glaze first and then the swirl eliminator however now I'm thinking maybe I have the order backward?

Essentially I'd like to use the Klasse twins but first I have some scratches and swirls I'd like to get rid of. I know neither the glaze nor the ultrafina will get rid of what I have so I need something a little coarser, however I was planning on doing the following (correct any flaws you might see in this please, as you can see I'm new here).

wash with dawn

clay

medium polish (which I have yet to buy, was thinking perhaps megiuars 105/205?)

glaze/ultrafina (not necessarily both, maybe just one of the two...but which? this is where I'm confused.)

klasse twins

Once this process is complete and I've got a lot of the swirls/scratches out of the paint obviously I'd just like to wash it with the Sonus wash that is designed to be used with the Klasse products (I forgot what it was called and have yet to find a source for it) and I'll continue to just apply more coats of KSG. This is my plan anyway, as I said please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken or something doesn't look right.

I have an entire week to do this and I'd like a good protective coating to last for a while, I'm more concerned with the protection than I am the 'look' for now. I'm a college student and don't have much time to even wash the stupid thing so while I have a week off I'd like to clean it up as much as possible since it's been about 5 months since the last time I cleaned it and through the winter and salty roads I'm sure the paint is in pretty poor shape now. I'd hope this process and periodic washings will keep it protected until summer, at which point I'll worry more about keeping it as close to perfect as possible and making it 'look' better whether that means changing from the KSG to a carnauba wax or simply adding a carnauba wax on top of the several coats of KSG, I'll figure that out when I get there.

So what's the deal with the order of the glaze/ultrafina, I know there are several of you that use the ultrafina however I haven't read much about the glaze? I'd post links to these products but since I'm new here that'll put a my thread in a queue until it's approved by a moderator.

Also if you see any reasons to go about the order I plan on doing things differently or have suggestions for which products to use to help with the medium scratches/swirls please let me know!

TIA! :2thumbs:

If you are using a rotary, use Ultrafina. However, via PC, you really don't need a glaze if you use the Klasse twins (although to be honest, Werkstat is a similar but better system both in ease of use and results), AIO will be your glaze instead.

You are correct. You initially had the order backwards. You should Wash/clay/polish/glaze/seal?/wax The polish will remove most of your swirls and scratches depending on the polish you use. The glaze will fill in any smaller swirls/scratches. The sealant will lock in the glaze and add protection for your paint and the wax will lock in the sealant adding just a bit more protection. You can skip the sealant part if you wanted to. I have used the 3M for dark as well as 3M for light and it seems to do a pretty good job. I have never used the Ultrafina, but I hear it is a good finishing product.

As far as glaze, I love Chemical Guys EZ-Creme Glaze. I don't use it so much as a "filler". I did a test after polishing with CG EZ-Creme Glaze, sealed with blackfire wet diamond and topped with CG Butter Wet Wax, and the finish looked dripping wet.

I have a bottle of KSG on hand, and used it before, however, I prefer the BWFD product as a sealant over the KSG.

The 105/205 you will like. It is easy to work with. You may want to consider Menzerna SIP, IP, and 85rd or 106FF also. These are great products that I use regularly. I understand that the Menzerna 106FF is pretty comparable to the Ultrafina in terms of finishing ability; but again, I have never used the Ultrafina, so I cannot comment on it personally.

Thank you both for your input! I really appreciate it.

Yes, I'm using a Makita rotary.

I've heard good things and seen some great pictures of the EZ Creme, so that's definitely on my wish list. Menzerna seems to be a solid product which I would also love to test out eventually. I haven't seen much on the CG butter wet wax, however I'll definitely do a search on it to see what others have to say as well. I'm still new at this so I'd like to try a lot of stuff to figure out what I like and what I don't like and I'll go from there. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of money to work with so...it'll be a really slow process, and I am very happy even to have the select amount of products and knowledge that I currently have. I'll share more, including pictures, next weekend or the following week.

I'm also not entirely sure if my paint is considered 'dark' or 'light' as I think it changes quite a bit depending on the sunlight. I'm tempted to say it's a 'dark' color but I don't believe it's a very 'dark' color even if it's 'dark'. First I'd like to come up with the money for 105/205, once that's done I'd like to find a good wax to go on after the sealant layers are complete, I'm considering p21s, but still have some research to do.

Would you say this is light, or dark?
