I would like some info on 3M perfect It 2 cleaner foam polishing pad Glaze for either dark or light colored vehicles.

I think both these are the same except for one ingredient thats in the one for dark colored cars.

Like does it create more swirls that it removes on one website it says its abraviseness is 2 on a scale to 10.

Plus it has no silicones and its paintable

Would be using a foam or microfiber app. for application to be done by hand.

Might be folowing up with Imperial hand glaze as well.

What I am looking for is a good light cleaner to be used by hand once to twice a year.

To clean the paint that is missed when washing to keep the paint fresh.:)

thanx in advance mongo

I take no one uses their cleaners.

They also have a new product out called Performance Finish it is asilicone that has air reactive silicone polymers in it.

I saw a body shop use it today on a black metallic bumper that they wet sanded 1st and it looked pretty good when they pulled it outside. It's designed and marketed to be used in body shops mostly. Their 3 step system is probably the easiest system out there for finishing out feshly painted surfaces. I know body shops also use it on non-freshly painted panels, but for some reason it doesn't look real wet?

I use it prewax use .... It does a nice job smoothing and giving depth ...

BUT it has no wax/silicones so you HAVE to coat it with a wax otherwise it strips the old wax and leaves the paint vulnerable for stuff sticking into the paint

I appreciate the info l.

I am thinking of using the foam polishing pad by hand once to twice ayear then folowing up with 3M Imperial hand glaze on top of it the following with a spray sealant.

I saw it at Carquest last week. They had a big display about it. I think it reminds me in some ways of P21S paintwork cleanser in the appearance they are talking about.

I have been using the 3M line for awhile... i've been quite satisfied with the 05996 foam polishing pad glaze. I have applied it both by hand and using the PC. By hand the results are harder to see and if let to long to sit it leaves some hazing. BTW don't let it dry to long or on a hot surface cause is a real PITA to remove. But with the PC it really give a nice glossy finish. I usually apply it with a black LC polishing pad at speed 4 and increase as it dries to 5. I find it works best when its starting to dry and i slightly remove pressure while increasing speed. Keep the passes not to fast and allow it to work.

I use it following Finess-It Finishing material (05928) to remove any remaining swirls and bring out the shine.

Almost forgetting..be sure to tape all surfaces that won't get polished specially molding cause the glaze slings easily and will get in every exposed surface.

If you use the 05996 i dont think you need the Imperial glaze..but i never tried it so i can't say for sure. I usually follow with the 3M liquid show car wax, i find it does last quite awhile and gives a very wet looking shine...only down side: it will stain exposed plastics and moldings if not protected...learned that the hard way..:(
