I have a few of these and I've never used them...these are the waffle type black pads. Are these any good to use for polishing???

I had an idea about using these the other day. What I did was use a normal flat pad to apply the compound worked it for a few minutes on each panel then let it dry. I came back over the compound with the 3M pad to remove the dried compund. Worked like a charm.

I liked it becuase I did not have to wait for the copmound to remove/dry completely with the firts pad.

Other than that I find normal pads to be more effecient.

HTH :)

I know some good painters who swear by the black waffle pads. They especially like them for rotary use. Nice and mild.

I took some white waffle pads and using scissors...cut the majority of each nub off..the pad's not completely flat, but works well with Fine cut..I might try it with the black pads.

I have them for my DeWalt rotary, they work well just gotta make sure the pads not dry, the rotary likes to leap and jump like a bull frog.

Thats a machine I hardly ever ever use, learning but it's a slow process since I don't want to learn on any of these 60,000.00 + cars.

Tried my own trick...cutting the nubs off the 3M black pads....got about 20 minutes without rain on Saturday..tried the nub-less black pad with SFP..very nice...I may have just solved my polish quest!
