Hi all,

are these products from 3M and Poorboys comparable? I have the 3M products in my garage already. If they are similar, is it worth the $$ to switch to the Poorboys products? My process as follows: wash, clay, FCRC/SSR2.5, SMR/SSR1, AIO, UPP. All using my new PC. Does this process sound OK? If the car isn't in bad shape, would I just skip the FCRC/SSR2.5 step? Would I still clay it if it's not in bad shape and start with the SMR/SSR1? Thanks in advance for the advice to the noob. And I welcome any add'l suggestions on products/processes. -RJ

Your process sounds fine to me. Yes, I would venture to say that you still need to clay the vehicle before polishing. I would also say that you can't go wrong with the SSR line from Poorboy's. While I have not used the 3M products you mentioned, I have used the SSR line with very good results. I can't imagine a more user friendly polish that produces the same results.

Keep thiss in mind - Use the least abrasive method first. Try the SSR1/SMR first to see if it will remove the marring you have. If it does - great. If it doesn't, then you can step up to a more aggressive polish.

Good luck!!
