350z silver to blue

My insane friend wants to try and use some blue wax between coats of other wax to give his nissan 350z a hint of blue. I don't think this is possible. Is it? :nixweiss

Improbable, I'd say. Wax goes on in such a thin layer that there isn't much chance that it could alter the color of your paint. Wax can darken the appearance of your paint, but that has more to do with the properties of carnauba than the actual color of the wax.

I'm not sure what wax he is talking about, I told him that I didn't think it would work. I have seen a friend use some red colored wax to try and fill in some scratches, well the wax went on red and then turned the usually dry white wax color, what's the point of that?

Marketing gimmickry. :(

hehehe its like that tyre tinting tyre gel....gives it a bit of a metallic look...and frankly looks cr4p hehe...looks like someone mixed in glitter with endurance gel

If he wants blue I recommend a trade in or a high end paint job. The factory paint on the 350Z has been often criticized for excessive chipping. Once it gets bad enough maybe a repaint will make sense. I had mine repainted due a paint defect but didn't change the color.

yeah, tcl, the paint on the Z is fragile. Those rock chips are murder on the car, so the front end of my car has been repainted. Wish I had the front of the hood done too, cause it is also chipping beyond belief.

There are 3 silvers now for the Z, silverstone, liquid aluminun (new), and chrome silver. Wonder which one he has, whichever it is, a "blue tint" will never happen, lol. Hopefully he doesn't mess up the car in the process.

I know it isn't the new liquid aluminum, it is the lighter of the two you mentioned. He has a few stone chips. He wants me to help him wet sand and buff it out, but I'm like I don't want to make a mistake on such a beautiful car. Thanks for chiming in Jimamary, your constructive criticism is always welcomed.

He can always try it and see what happens, since this is "something new", but I doubt the effect is going to be as dramatic as I think he is after.

Maybe he could just get a coat of blue tinted clear coat sprayed on....

Silly and naive thread.

Ain't gonna work, kids.

It doesn't hurt to ask first you know.... that's one thing Autopia is here for.

Here is the car. He doesn't want it permanently blue he just wants the option of changing the color whenever he feels like it

Kind of like this:

ok, Eran convinced me to join....

.... HI EVERYONE!

Anyway, I know it's a stoopid idea, but I could change my mind and remove it with a wash of Dawn whenever I feel like it (I use Zaino so it's not going to mess that up).

So maybe I'll give it a go.... ...and get back to you :xyxthumbs
