303 Problems

I used some 303 aerospace protectant on the outside rubber window trim on my 2004 mustang. It seemed to eat away at the trim and black was all over my MF towel. It streaked the trim pretty bad where it ate away at the rubber. Its my fault for not spot testing it. I got it back to perhaps 90% with some blending. Still a warning for other out there. :sadpace: ALWAYS spot check.

Weird I have used it on all sorts of trim and it never "ate away trim" Are you sure the black coming off wasnt residue/grime..sometimes the trim can look clean but when actually clean them, they have a lot of compacted grime in there that you cant really see... sorry to hear that. 303 doesnt have any cleaners it as for as I know, so I dont know why that happened to you :(

My guess is the black was caked and soaked on dirt. I would clean it really well with a trim cleaner first and then go over it with 303.

Like both above me said, if you never clean the trim it will turn your towels black just rubbing with nothing on them. It is dead rubber on top. Now if it actually ate away at it in a corrosive manner then there definitely is a problem. Perhaps you could take some pictures to show us exactly what you mean.

Call 303 and tell them what happened. I had a gallon jug that had some black stuff growing in it. They sent me a new gallon and paid for me to send in the old gallon. They said they wanted to check into why my gallon had critters in it. Now thats customer service!

MDRX8...That's Awesome 303 did that for you. Most other companies would definetaly not even attempt to do anything like that ever!

It was not a corrosive type thing which leads me to believe that you guys may be right in that its peeling off "dead rubber". I'll try to snap some pics today. Good to hear 303 takes care of its customers. Thanks for the replies guys

Something similar happened with a different product on my last car. It did turn out to be the dull, outer coating of the rubber on my window molding.

Try cleaning the rubber with 50/50 Iso- water mix first. Then use the 303, let dry and wipe excess with a MF.
