3 months old TW: still beading on 24/7 outside car, but

I waxed my 1992 Mercedes 300D 2.5 liter turbo diesel, arctic white, 257 thousand miles now (at the time of writing this article), in May with Turtle Wax F21â„¢ Car Polish paste.

In early September, water was still beading well on my car.

I touched up the rear-facing surface near exhaust with Zymol Cleaner Wax in July because it had slight stain that could not be removed by ordinary washing. In early September, that surface had similar stain on that area.

The car has been outside all the time. My car ran about 7000 miles in New England area in the US from May to early September.

At the waxing in March before the TW waxing in May, I used Meguiars Deep Crystal System Polish (step 2).

I used wax enhancers (spray waxes) several times (approximately 4 times total) during May and September.

Average washing interval (including very sloppy self washing, and a few automatic washing) was approximately a little less than 2 weeks.

My complaint:

At the waxing in early September, I found several tiny black dots on white paint that could not be removed even with about 80 times of wiping with Meguiars ScratchX.

Any suggestion?

Have you tried clay?

Yes, I wiped about 10 times with Meguiars clay (consumer line product, not the more abrasive pro line product).

before i discovered Autopia, i used the TW 2001 which is the same is the new F21. It worked okay, but the slickness tanked after a week.

If you tried the meguiars white clay, i would have to say that it was the worst product that I have tried. Try mothers or clay magic, they have worked much better for me.

If that does not help I would get some polish and try. Menzerna Intensive polish worked very good on my car.

My car has a lot of touch up paint areas. The edges of these were NOT smoothed out with 2000 wet sanding and polishing.

With Meguiars clay, I could go through these without problem. Very hard clay might damage touched up paint.

I wonder how hard Mothers and blue Clay Magic are. According to an online review, Mothers clay bar feels like hard brick compared to other bars. Do you think Mothers bar is safe?

By the way, are Clay Magic’s lubricant available separately at local stores?

Those "black dots" you see on the paint are, believe it or not, little pieces of mold. They generally come from wood bark mulch, especially in moist conditions. In fact, they can be "shot" over 20 feet from their breeding ground. No April Fool joke! Only way I know to get them off is to use your fingernail, and polish and wax afterwards.

Weird, huh?

Unsuccessful with

finger nail,

WD-40,

Fantastik all purpose cleaner,

TurtleWax White Polishing Compound (the manufacturer recommended against using this for my car’s clear coat, but I tried).

Next time, I will try

bug & tar remover,

stronger clay (Clay Magic, Mothers, Meguiars Detailing Clay - Mild, or Meguiars Detailing Clay - Aggressive).

The picture below is one of large dots. There are more smaller dots.

I tried Meguiars and TurtleWax bug and tar remover with TurtleWax bug sponge (with nylon mesh),

but the black dot did not disappear.

I could not remove the black dot with Clay Magic either.
