Just got the car 3 weeks ago, working on getting the paint really dialed in to coat it. Not sure when that will happen- waiting the kamikaze products to be available but I probably won’t coat in May as I’ll be very busy with work and it’ll be starting to get too hot. It’s gonna take a bit to get the paint how I want, but ai think I’m close. One more step with WG finishing glaze and some soft pads on the rotary oughta do it.
Alright, here’s what I started with today.
New car, so obviously the paint isn’t swirled up. Also did a step with Essence and uro fiber pads a week or so ago. Added gloss but didn’t do much to improve clarity. One thing to note, while the reflections are nice there was a fair amount of orange peel, which doesn’t really show in the pics. It’s a daily driver so I don’t want to get into compounding, so I’m taking a gentler approach.
So here’s what I used:
Rupes 15
Flex PE14-2
HD Adapt
Orange HD Orbital pads
M205 and white pads on front bumper(w/ rotary)
Car had already been iron x’ed and clayed when I used Essence so I gave her a wash, taped up and went to work. I got the rotary out mainly for the license plate area and to “cut in” the edges around door panels and door handles. Came in really handy for the front fenders and bumper. Polished those areas entirely by rotary, as the curves and angles and being small areas were way too intricate for a large throw DA.
All taped up:
Took the plate off for this job:
Some progress shots:
Feels good to get a finish like that via rotary
Not a metallic paint(it’s a “pearl”) but it shows up in the right light
Broke out the tiny pads for this one
Nice reflection besides the ugly dude in it
All done!
LSP’d with Wolfgang Fuzion. Was almost 7 hours in and was ready to be done and Fuzion is the easiest wax I’ve ever used.
Thanks for looking!
