2018 Acura TLX ASpec with Gloss Coat

So, for starters I put kamikaze Miyabi coat on this car almost two years ago and ended up with a bunch of high spots when I did the 2nd coat. These were not easy to buff off and it took a long time to get time, motivation and cooperative weather at the same time to go at it again.

So after talking to the folks at Esoteric, I got some Menzerna FG300 and a couple of SurBuf pads for trying to remove the coating. It mostly worked. Some spots were really stubborn. Even after that and multiple attempts with a MF pad and fg300, I decided to just let it be. They’re mostly slight at this point and overall the car looks good.

Obviously, I started with a borough washing and decon with IronX and clay.

So here’s a couple starting pics:

After the spot correction, I did the remainder of the car with a Rupes 15, HD Adapt and Uro-Fiber pads. This combo worked nicely to give enough cut and a nice finish.

For the 2nd step, I used the Rupes with Essence, gloss pads and some LC gold pads to really make a nice mirror shine.

Before applying the coating, I wiped each panel with Gyeon Prep, then applied the coating one panel at a time. Also did all the glass with Optimum’s glass coating.

Here is where it ended up at:

Thanks for looking!

Excellent persistence and determination, looks great!

I Love that blue (I’ll call it royal blue for my own romanticism), due to an early life experience with an IROC-Z, as I’ve stated here:

Congrats on another absolutely beautiful car made even more beautiful with all your work !!
Outstanding clarity, gloss, it just looks perfect !
Is the Optimum Gloss Coat ( I assume), going to play well with the Car Pro Essence underneath it ?
