I received a text a couple months ago from someone who was looking to spruce up their C5 before they sold it. While meeting up with the owner and looking at his Corvette, he mentioned how he had purchased a new WRX and wanted it to be corrected and coated before winter hit. We never got around to scheduling his Vette, but this weekend he brought me his WRX for a correction and Beeds Ceramic Paint Treatment.
I was recently certified to use Beeds after inquiring with the distributor here in the USA. Beeds is manufactured in Singapore, backed by Japanese technology and research. It is solvent free, which means it won’t harm you, but it makes it easy to use because once it’s on the paint, it’s on. You only have to let it sit for about a minute before removing it, which is a breeze. I played around with it on my brother’s car to get the hang of it before offering it as a service.
Beeds promises a three year lifetime and is warranty backed. I wanted to find a coating like this that I could offer customers who wanted something to last longer than the consumer grade stuff anyone can buy. However, I was having trouble with that since most companies want full time shops, which I am not (only part time). Understandable, but a bit annoying if you ask me.
As for the process of installing it, it’s the same as any other coating. Suede towel wrapped around a block, a few drops on the pad, apply in a cross-hatch pattern, let it sit for a minute, and buff off using different high plush towels. High spots are easily removed by buffing off, even if you missed a spot and came back to it a few minutes later. Next to Mckee`s, this is the easiest coating I`ve used.
Anyway, the process for the job was a standard correction and coating prep. Everyone jokes about soft Subaru paint, but it made correcting this car so easy. Carpro Essence was used to correct the paint, I used Meguiar’s microfiber cutting pads for 90% of the job. Smaller areas were used with Rupes Yellow Foam pads. Some spots I watched the swirls disappear in a single pass.
