So to kick off working in the new shop what better way to start than with a high class luxury sedan. This 2016 Bentley Mulsanne actually belongs to a family member of Autogeek forum member Trashmanssd. It was recently purchased and a full service was requested. It was not only a pleasure to finally meet Ryan but to also be able to do such a wonderful vehicle for his family.
Wash/Decon- Hyper wash, Megs Iron decon, Nanoskin fine grade towel
After washing and decon the vehicle was placed on jack stands and the wheels removed in preparation for prepping and coating. Chief 125psi steamer and goof off was used to finish prepping the wheels along with the calipers. Then they were coated in IGL Eclipse industrial coating.
Then the fun began! This car had a less than stellar tan/gold painted on pin stripe and monogram initials on the doors which they wanted removed. The initial plan was to remove it and leave it bare but upon discovery of a tape line on the body line while removing it was agreed to re-stripe it in black. So that`s what I did. The old stripe was removed using a combo of oven cleaner and graffiti remover.
Once that was completed the paint correction could begin. Paint thickness readings were taken and averaged around 10.5/11mils. Compounding was handled with M100, Mckees Microfiber cutting pads and Rupes 21 Mark ll and Flex Pxe 3 inch. Finishing was with IGL yellow foam, IGL F1, Rupes 21 Mark ll, Flex PXE.
Then the tedious task of polishing out the massive grill.
Engine bay cleaned and coated with IGL Eclipse
The paint was coated in IGL Kenzo. Interior was cleaned up and the interior carbon was polished and sealed.
