We have taken a different approach to our new Stage lineup.” states Jay Velthoven, Director of Marketing at Roush Performance. ”The 2015 RS will be built on the Mustang’s V6 platform, the Stage 1 will feature the new turbo-charged Ford 2.3L Eco-Boost motor, and the Stage 2 will showcase a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8.”
This means a much more distinctive difference between the models in the Roush stable that will not only offer a wide pricing band but bring new enthusiast owners to the showroom.
The look of the new 2015 Roush Mustang is defined by what Roush calls their R7 – 7th generation aero-body package. It starts up front with a unique front fascia replacement, a five-blade upper grille and high flow lower opening.
2015-Roush-Mustang-2Driving lamps are set in the lower grille which frame the air inlet that will feed the inter-cooler of the Stage 1 EcoBoost models and later the Stage 3 and higher Roush Mustang grades when they come along. The chin splitter takes on a complex ribbon-like jutting design.
A familiar theme is used for the rear deck lid spoiler and ROUSH is spread nicely across the rear tail panel. Down the sides are new rocker trim panels and sorry folks, no side exhaust. Roush has also created a set of optional side, quarter window and a hood scoops for those who want the retro feel.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 get a Roush quad-tip performance exhaust system which the company says is a modular design which allows for plug-play upgrades later. They even teased that such upgrades will be available later this year.
2015-Roush-Mustang-4There will be optional suspension upgrades and the new Quicksilver 20” Roush wheels wrapped with Roush-Cooper RS3-S tires.
Interior accoutrements include Roush embroidered floor mats and serial number badge. As expected you can option a Roush gauge cluster and various colors of leather package upgrades. Notable this year is the availability of the Recaro seats in Roush models.
At launch, 2015 Roush Mustangs will be available in 6-speed manual fastbacks only. When Ford begins convertible production, those will come available as will cars with the 6-speed automatic transmission.
As to a supercharged Stage 3 or higher model, Roush has not shown their hand just yet. We already see that Ford Racing is showing off a Ford Racing/Roush supercharger for the new 2015 Mustang that gets it into the sub 11 second ET with drag slicks.
Thus it won’t be long before an announcement is made for a Roush supercharger system for the 2015 Mustang as well as a Roush Stage 3 turn-key model that comes with 50-state legality and a warranty.
Production is ramping up now and the new 2015 Roush Mustangs are expected to start showing up at dealers in a few weeks.
