2013 Subaru Forrester, polish and PBL coating

So, I'm home in WV for my moms bday and detailing her car as her gift. Obviously polishing, but also applying PBL paint coating v2.

I use the flex 3401. I started out with WGUC but quickly switched to TSR because of dusting. I used cyan pads with the TSR for the first step. In heavily scratched areas, I used mf pads- like along the bottom of the doors. I used Meg's UP with white CCS pads for the finishing polish. 4-5 passes per section with the TSR, 3-4 with the UP.

the car has 36k miles on it and it's driven in WV as a DD- a fair amount of Country(gravel) roads with brush and such. There wasn't a whole load of swirling but there were some isolated heavy scratches. I was not aiming for 100% correction but did well with minimizing most of the scratches. However, there was some deep water spot etching on the hood that I could not correct. I tried every combination of TSR, WGUC, mf and cyan hydro tech pads and they wouldn't budge. After about 12 or so passes I just let them be. Was disappointing. There were a lot of chips from rocks and such too. Obviously, those aren't going to buff out.

this was also the first time I ever used a nanoskin. I've used clay plenty, but this was nice. I used CG citrus wash, a decon with iron x. Wolfgang wheel cleaner and some aromrall tire shine.

im pissed about the water spots but the car looks pretty good. Mom is thrilled, and that's the important part. Total work time was about 12 hours. Still need to touch up the exterior trim. Will also do a cleaning of interior trim and seats with OPC 3:1. 303 for dash and trim, lexol for seats.

BEFORE: after wash and nano. Should've taken a before I washed pic... Car was sooooo dirty.

AFTER

Here is a pic of etching:

Looks like ya did a GREAT job.

For etching, I find chemical cleaners (like pb pro polish) can do a better job than mechanical polish.

I'm home for Christmas, and it's rainy. Made sure to check the beading and happy to see its going strong. Never been topped with anything and it's certainly not getting washed regularly. When I get home for summer, I'll check up on it again and do the coating booster. Wanted to do it while I'm home this time, but there's no break in he rain. Oh well.
