2013 Black Cadillac Escalade Platium Edition

Here is a 2013 Cadillac Escalade Platinum addition. It has 12,000 miles on it but the paint looks a lot worse then what it should. This car has been getting regular washes at the dealership and it shows their lack of car cleaning knowledge and attention to detail. There was a lot of water that came out of the crevices while being delivered and had gotten baked on by the sun. They said they put there wax on that is supposed to last forever. Well we all know that is a line of BS. Chemical Guys Wash n Gloss stripped it very easily so the dealers sealant sucked. They also must have used a glaze to hide imperfections as there was a scratch on the drivers side front fender that didn't show up until after a strip wash and claying. The interior was in really good shape so that made the detail a little easier.

I also tried out Blackfire SRC compound with this one step and I was really impressed. I have to do some more testing but it may be replacing Menzerna PF2500 as my go to one step. It wiped off extremely easy and cut well leaving a nice finish behind. There are a ton of pics because this has been the most expensive vehicle I have ever worked on so I apologize. Enjoy!

Nice job.

I also found out that the dealers are getting better and better at hiding stuff with glaze etc

Do we still call those guys detailers? (Just kidding)

No lie, when I black hole'd my Black Infiniti in 08 becasue I did not know how to polish the swirls out it really bothered me. It looked great but at the same time, I knew eventually the swirls would be back in the same exact places.

The only excuse for a glaze IMHO is :

1. You don't want to invest in a machine
2. You don't want to invest the time learing paint correction
3. Your paint is too thin to polish
4. Your just don't care that it will look like crap in a few washes.
5 Your a Pro and you customer declined the paint correction. Then they get what they deserve.
6. It is a show car and it needs to be past perfect so you had it polished and think a glaze wrings out some extra POP. I dont think so, but I can't argue the point becuase perhaps someone with a more trained eye can see a difference. Some pretty top notch detailers on this site seem to think so who am I to dispute them....................

Other than that, polish that %^%$#.

Speaking of whitch, I have some free time tonight and I will be tearing down the DD and putting it back together.

I have some pretty strong feelings about glaze becuase I once paid for a correction from a reputable place and knowing what I know now, think it was glazed. I went back and showed them the mess and they said the car wash did it and i said i hand wash it. THey said you wash media must be contaminated. I really did not think so but I cannot be 100% sure because it was before I was totally Anal. I decided to go to a PB detail weekend and lear how to run a machine. It started me off on one of my favorite hobbies so I guess I own those detailers something after all.............

This is the one, and that is the day. Extra point for finding the picture so fast. You are still DA MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, this was the day I learned how to polish. Started the car with a PC and Ron lent me his Flex to knock it out. Took all day, like 8-10 hours from start to finsih, wash, wheels, 2 step correction including the learning curve and then Sealed.

Have a nice weekend.

Pretty much. It has a ton of bells and whistles on it. Very nice car.
