Right,

This is a car that was a recent one for me. Was a lot of fun as I have been wanting to do a Veloster since they came out as they look like a pretty cool car.

This one was in one of my favorite colors; Metallic Black

The owner just purchased it a month ago, and had the dealer put the $400 "paint protection" package on it. Unfortunately the dealer guys left the paint in terrible condition. It was loaded with swirls, holograms and RIDS.

Needless to say the owner was upset, and did not want to take it back to the dealer for further work.

After inspecting the paint, I chose my game plan.

First was to wash the car using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash.
Then, the paint was decontaminated with IronX and followed up with a good claying using Pinnacle ultra poly clay and Pinnacle Clay lube

I decided to hit the paint with Menzerna Power Finish and a Lake country Hydro Tech Tangerine pad using my Flex PE-14.

Each panel got polished once using various speeds. The reason why I love the Hydro Tech Tangerine pad is the way it can just really get rid of some pretty decent marks, and finish out as good as a black pad. Really good stuff here!

Here is a shot of the bonnet after a polish using the combo.

This is why I love black metallics so much!

After all the polishing, The paint was cleaned off with Menzerna Top Inspection then a coating of Blackfire Wet Diamond was applied using a Lake Country Red hand applicator.

After the curing of the Wet Diamond, it was wiped off with a Cobra Super Plush Deluxe 600 to its final shine!

I did take way more pics during the work, but for some reason they just did not come out unfortunately. The client was extremely happy however, and now has a car looking the way it should!

Great work!

Velocitors are still pretty rare around here. They had 2 on the Hyundai lot in Gatorade Green and they were gone in 3 days - before I could stop by and see one up close.

Nice work.
"Unfortunately the dealer guys left the paint in terrible condition." would be an understatement! AND that's with the $400 "paint protection" - DEALERS.

thanks thomas, it's always nice to see something done right and i'm sure the owner was thrilled with your efforts. the finish now looks outstanding !

Nice work, another reason not to spend extra on the 'protection package'. I really like the new Velosters. I'm thinking replacement for my Pontiac Vibe GT when it finally gives up. Waiting for the turbo model though.

Looks very nice. The owner should take it back to the dealer and show them the way it was supposed to look and ask for a refund.

Great work there Thomas, looks great from your pictures. Wife has looking at them lately at the dealer. I see them all the time here.........

my wife hates them but me likey

is that what paint protection costs from a dealer? Damn, you can get half the blackfire line at reg price for that much...

$400 paint protection is the new rustproofing - and always put on badly - it can range from a hard coat like opti-coat to a cheap polymer like nu finish....

nice save here....

Nice job. Looks much better.

They are neat little cars and that 3rd door is hidden well enough that I didn't notice it the first time I looked at it. Hyundai is doing some good things. I drive my mom's Sonata all the time and I really like it

Yes I have only seen one in orange prior to this. Was great to work on it.

I really like the new Hyundai's. That is no exception. Looks great!

Thanks much Todd!

Thanks so much. I was really happy with the turnaround myself and the customers reaction of course!

I agree. It was on my Wife's Scion TC when we bought it as that dealer applies it to all vehicles before they hit the lot. Luckily it was no where as bad as this. The Turbo model does look to be quite the kicker :)

HAHA I told him that but he did not even want to go back there. Thanks!

Thanks Angelo! They really are a neat little car. Interior is quite impressive.

nice work! Love how BFWD looks

Thanks! IMHO this is where BFWD really shows off its superiority and what it was almost made to do. If this job was performed at my shop, you can bet it would have been topped with BFMS in a few hours to really make it rock!

Thanks! Yes I believe it was Zillion, which seems to be popping up more and more at dealers lately. I love the fact they say it warranties the paint, but anytime anything happens, they find a way around it.

Nice job. Looks much better.

Thanks very much! I was very surprised when I was washing it to find a third door only on the passenger side haha.

Thanks to all for the nice comments! :yourrock

I wasn't sure if I liked the Veloster but I got to look at them yesterday and I must say they are really nice.

You did some nice work on it. Thanks for sharing.
