Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've been around, not since the DC days. As I'm sure many of you know sometimes, life gets in the way of hobby. That said, now that I've got a garage back, I've recently got the bug again, and hope to be a more regular fixture around here...still have a lot to learn. That said, I knew I couldn't return after such a long hiatus without bearing gifts. I've since parted ways with the Z, and after a few car changes (Frontier, G37, altima), I've now landed on the GTI you see before you.
I bought this car in Oct. with 12K miles on it, and have been waiting for the weather to break to bring it up to par. Previous owner wasn't neglectful, but wasn't meticulous either. Paint was heavily contaminated with tar and rail dust...claying took probably 3 hours alone. Could NOT get this to show up in the pics, unfortunately. Other than that it wasn't too bad, few scratches here and there, as you'd expect with a used car. Interior was clean to begin with, so before and afters are kind of moot, but I threw them in anyways. All in, it was about 9 hours start to finish. Enjoy!
Process:
Wash with megs gold class, clayed with megs yellow clay bar
Poorboys SSR2.5 on problem areas
Poorboys SSR1 (pink) whole car
Poorboys White Diamond Glaze
Poorboys EXP (2 coats)
Poorboys Nattys Red (2 coats)
Sonus metal polish with 0000 steel wool on exhaust tips
Poorboys natural look on interior
Poorboys leather stuff on steering wheel and shift boot
