haven't clayed before so i'm kinda wondering what i should do first. i've looked up a couple different threads on this topic but still i'd rather ask my own questions and get my own ansewers. i see nobody is to overwhelmed with Meguires clay so i figured i'll go with Mothers since thats about my only other choice around here and since this is somwhat of a spur of the moment thing i'm sure as hell not waiting for an order to come in from Zaino. anyways so should i wash the car with dawn or another dish detergant soap first or just wash it like i normally do with car wash solution stuff then clay it?:

So you are going to be applying zaino eventually?

People use Dawn to strip off Carnauba wax before they apply a synthetic wax like zaino or Klasse.

I would just wash your car with a normal car wash and then start claying. If you plan on claying and then polishing, then that should strip all the wax off. If you still are waiting for zaino, then I would just apply a wax after you clay. Then you'll be set and as soon as your zaino arrives you can wash with dawn to strip the wax off and apply zaino.

ahhhhh to hell with that Zaino stuff. if i can't get it from the local parts whatever they're called nowa days then i'm not going to bother with it. i'm happy with my collection of Meguires and Zymol . they get the job done just fine. if i have to wait for my order to come in to clean my car then theres somthing wrong with this picture. i don't see the point either in going out on some pilgrimage for some stuff that'll make my car shinier than the next joe shmo next to me who got his wax/cleaner from the place right down the road. i'm not putting the stuff down because all i hear are great things about it but i hear great things about Lamborghini's and i'm sure as hell not going to run out and pick myself up one of those either. thanks for your input. any other helpful hints or words of wisdom would be greatly appriciated.

Called in to bring back the condition of this GT3RS after it had went on the "One lap of America" rally, the owner obviously enjoys the car as intended and was "A little dirty"............ dealt with many issues such as marred paint, sticker removal off the clearfilm(Not fun) and centerlock HRE's that were dirty and baked like a cookies in the oven (lol).

Vehicle as I began the work.

As I was busy during this week I had a detailer who I worked with @ East Bay BMW in the 90's help me that day (Jaime).

Marring on the passenger door clearfilm caused by the sticker application.

Correcting marring on film is no "Day at the beach" , it would take close to two hours to gently remove the marring on the film.
