Finally got around to detailing my car. I know it is not as fancy as the Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, and Aston Martin's that all of you guys do, but it works for me
Keep in mind this is the first time I have actually detailed a car. My previous car was a 1996 Olds Cutlass Supreme and I did not do too much to it. Washed it every now and then, nothing like this...
First things first, I washed using the two bucket method, a proline tile and grout sponge, and Blackfire shampoo. I dried with an electric leaf blower and a synthetic chamois. I then clay barred the entire car with the PolyClay II kit.
Then I tried to get some pictures of the swirls and whatnot, but couldn't seem to capture anything...
The front fascia was probably the most damaged section...
Except for my rear driver's side door, Someone opened their door into it
I then taped everything off...
That's my brother btw. Not sure why he is smiling
I then proceeded to polish using Blackfire GEP with a Griot's Garage random orbital polisher. I used two white LC CCS 6 1/2" pads to polish the car, and a Dragon Fibre MF to buff it off. After polishing, I applied Blackfire Wet Diamond with a gold LC CCS 6 1/2" pad and another Dragon Fibre MF.
For reasons unbeknown to me, I did not take any pictures during any other stages (besides finished). I used Invisible Glass on all of the glass, and just mild soap and hot water to clean up the interior. Vacuumed her out real well and put on Meguiar's Gold Class tire dressing and I was done
My cousin has a Canon DSLR, so I asked her if she could take some pictures for me today. We went up to a park right by my house and came out with a few good ones.
I had some kind of purple goo on my tire from driving to school today. No idea what it was :/
I was able to get most of the door scratch out. The upper three or four marks are through the color coat, so there is nothing polishing could have done
I probably should have taken some pictures of the interior and engine bay, but I forgot :/
I absolutely love the way it turned out. Wet Diamond really is as good as everyone says it is
There are definitely some spots I didn't do great, but the more I do it the better I will get at it I suppose.
Let me know what you guys think.
