2010 Jaguar XF Indigo Blue - One Step D151 "magic"!

This is the same customer who owns the 2009 Z06 I posted last week. This is his beater .

Since it's a lease, he didn't want to go crazy with 2 or 3 step paint correction. He opted for a one step polish, so I was looking for something a bit stronger than M205, but not as strong as M105. Meguiar's D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream via Lake Country Tangerine Hydro-Techs seemed like the perfect combo. I was also testing out a Hydro-Tech with the black CCS backing. It's the third time I've used the pad and have not had a single issue with it.

I didn't expect D151 to correct as well as it did, but it removed all the swirls and left a VERY nice finish, even after an IPA wipedown. Might I also add I've been testing out a new "prototype" sealant for Max and the results have been nothing short of impressive thus far. We've been seeing durability in the 6-8 month range and looks are impressive. It does not offer the carnauba warmth of Wolfgang, but does add a nice pop to the paint and looks very wet.

Before we get on with the detail, here are some of the vehicles in the "collection" in their warehouse that I will be working on soon. :D

Very nice job, can't believe he considers that his beater, I'd kill for one...What did you use on the chrome accents? I know there isn't too much on this car but its standing out pretty good, the exhaust tips, around the grille, and windows etc.

AG, I've seen you have used the new(ish) Hydro-Tech pads on a couple details recently (maybe more which I haven't seen). Can you speak to their characteristics (other than that they are designed for waterbased polishes) as compared to some others from the LC pad lineup? Any additional information would be beneficial (I think) to many of us looking to add to our pad inventory.

And completely off topic---but...am I the only one who thinks that Jag has lost their way in their designs??? This vehicle looks like a Acura, BMW, Honda, maybe even Hyundai...

The Cyan Hydro-Techs are designed to cut like the Yellow LC pads, if not more...and finish down to around the finish that an Orange would leave.

Tangerine Hydro-Techs are designed to cut like an Orange, but finish down like a White.

looks good ,but the spider web scratches are still there.just not as visable.once oyu gettum there always there

That's absolutely incorrect. Depending on how much paint you level down around the marring, sure the lowest valley may still be there with the edges rounded (thus not reflecting the light and making the mar "invisible'), but marring can absolutely be "removed" (i.e. the surrounding paint leveled down to the lowest point of the mar valley).

BTW - nice work. I'm a Camaro fan, and while that one is nice, that's the ugliest Camaro ever made.

That is especially intriguing and the fact that it is a flat pad. Can I safely assume that the change comes simply by releasing pressure from the pad? How is the backing material? How many vehicles does your tangerine pad have under its belt?

My first thought when I saw the first one on the road, was that it was a Chrysler/Dodge product. Too bad when they decided to bring it back they didn't build one that looks like...well...a Camaro.

guy in my neighborhood has one, and I think BMW every time I see it.
It definitely reminds me of something besides a Jag. There are some BMWs that look like Hyundais that look like an Accord that looks like a Camry etc. etc. It's crazy these days, its like a lot of mfgs are working from the same set of drawings

It has to do with the closed cell foam they use, and how it works with water based polish. I'm really not sure how they work exactly as I'm not a pad scientist :D but it really does work. I did a few side by sides on my S2000's soft clearcoat, Tangerine vs Orange with SIP, and the tangerine had every bit of cut that the orange did but left a MUCH nicer finish.

The backing material could be better to be honest, but it may be in the process of being revised. Notice I was testing the one with black backing...I like that one much better as the backing feels sturdier. The "line up" of Tangerine pads I've been using has been through 4 cars thus far.

Does the foam have a lot of "give" (ie. does it compress significantly) when adding pressure?

Thanks for the "edumaction" :) and taking time to answer all my ?s.

Great job.. now you are making me wish for spring even more... i cort of remember what the sun looks like........:(

Thanks everyone! :D

Gus-Gus, don't worry....hopefully it will get warm soon! I'm hoping to see some more details posted up, so the sun better start coming out. :)
