HI GUYS

Am about to hit Lowes for a PORTER CABLE 7336SP. Any accesories that should be considering when getting it. Any special techingues with it for no swirl marks, etc.

You should look at the accessory kit from CMA. Includes several pads and, most importantly, the velcro-backed plate that does NOT come with the 7336.

As to techniques, run a search on "PC". You'll be amazed at what's out there already!

Good luck.

i agree 100%. Get the PC kit from CMA. It has all the pad you will need. There is a video on the site that you can download that gives you a great overview on how to use the Porter Cable.

Happy Detailing...

Anybody in the Los Angeles area know a Lowes in there area that they either purchased their PC 7336 from or saw one in stock.

The reason being is I just went into the one in Chino Hills and talked to their "tool guy" after i didn't find one in stock. He looked at me like I had three heads and . said that he had never heard of this unit, had to go look it up, was really amazed when he found it, gave me a price of $140.00 and said it would take about two weeks to get it. I remember someone posting that they had found theirs at Lowes for $109.00.

All the talk of the Porter Cable finally got to me. I bought a 7336SP at Lowes (Southeast PA) this past friday (2/15). As everone has been saying it was $109 and on the shelf.

Go to lowes.com enter your zip code (which will bring up a local store), click tools, under power tools click sanders, then click palm grip sanders. The 7336SP should be under there.

If I did everything right, this should reflect the Burbank, CA store (the closest I could get; I guess I have to study Calif. zip codes) :

While there is a disclaimer that price and availiblity may vary, it seems very strange to me that everyone around the country can get a 7336 at lowes for $109 and your local store wants more. If the burbank page works print it and take it to the store.

I'm planning on getting the kit from CMA; while I'm at it I would like to order some extra pads. Which pads will I generally use the most? should I get extra terry and MF bonnets?

I just thought that real estate was more expensive in CA! My sister always tells me that only real estate and insurance are more expenisive there - everything else is about the same as here in Missouri. Funny that when I visit her it costs me about 40% more for about everything. I'm not complaining, just pointing that out... :D

You can order your PC online cheaper, sounds like you already have it. Doubt you are going to lose too much sleep over it!

The CMA pad kit is the hot ticket. You definitely need it.

THANKS EVERYBODY

I just checked the website and store locator. It turns out that the PC 7336 is listed at $109.00 but is tempoarly unavailable. I'll keep checking. I've hand polished KERMIT since day one a little while longer won't be a problem.

... who asked: "Which pads will I generally use the most? should I get extra terry and MF bonnets?"

I would get at least one extra grey finishing pad. Good for when you want to slap a topper on a sealant. Other than that, just be sure and wash the ones you have as soon as you use them. Replace as necessary, but with proper care they should last a while.
