This 2010 Nissan GTR was from a referral from one of my other clients. This Customer had just bought this car a couple of months ago and recieved the car in this condition. This car was origanally saposed to be a wash and wax, but after explaining to the customer what potential this car had, we then decided to go for the paint correction. This car was scheduled for a 75%-90% correction.

Let's get this started, here is the car when I arrived

(notice all the wax residue on the edge of the clear bra)

First I degreased the tires using Megs Super degreaser

Then I applied Sonax Full Effect to the wheels

I used the wheel woolie to get into the wheels for a good cleaning.

Next is the pre-rinse to knock off any heavy/loose debris

Then I give the car a foam bath.

Then the car was brought in and clayed using Claymagic blue fine clay

Next I taped up all the plastic trim and edges of the clear bra

Here is a 50/50 shot after cutting the paint with a M105/D300 mixture and Surbuff pad on the Griot's 6in DA.

Notice that there is a slight haze left on the surface, this will be removed during the polishing/refinment stage.

The car was finished down with Menzerna 85RD on a LC Crimson pad, then the paint was sealed with one coat of Black Fire Wet Diamond.

The Rain was comming and the sun was hiding so these final pics will have to do.

great job eric, i enjoy your write-ups/pictures. keep up the good work! btw, that little karcher pressure washer has lasted you quite some time? i have the same exact one, but need a longer hose so i don't have to keep moving it around...

Nice to see it's "back in black" sorry - that song just kept playing in my head while I looked at this beauty!

Eric,

Amazing work as always. In reading your write ups I see you tend to use bfwd on a lot of your black cars. Is this your goto lsp for black?

Nice job. Just did a bad black one myself. Those paints are tough to work with. Great save and great shots.

Fantastic work!!! What did the owner have to say? Going from a wash&wax to 90% is a big jump.

he was definitely blown away. :D

It's my Go to Every car LSP! :D

Fantastic job bringing that paint back to life. Forgive me if this is a noob question, but how does the paint on a 1yr old car get that bad? Is a car wash capable of destroying the paint like that or was it in a sand storm?

nice job , those gtr are always beat up , i think the paint is poor quality.

i wish i can wash black cars like you in the sun , but at 110 in TX is a lost battle

It isn't unusual. The problem is that under "normal" conditions the avarage person can't see them of wouldn't noticed them easily.

They are however trashed in 12 months in most cases. ( I mean flat black paint)

This is just what happens.....................car being trashed is not the problem usually, it is when the client does not want to "Pay the freight" to properly fix the issues, great job Eric as I feel your pain.
