If so...I really dig it from what I can see.

That guy looks like he as about to pull a gun and take out the paparazzi :)

Looks good. It would be great if they give it an independent rear. But I'm probably dreaming.

It would be great if they offered IRS as a "road" package of some sort. leaving the "standard" equipment as it is. Remember, Mustangs are not supposed to be road racers, they're straight-line Muscle cars. Talk to any drag racer, they don't want IRS. In fact many owners of 03-04 Cobras don't like the IRS they have, because it doesn't launch well.

I would even like to see an AWD version of the Mustang to go head-to-head with the WRX STi -- maybe even a return to the spirit of the 1984-86 SVO Mustang, with a high tech turbo charged, small displacement engine. The 400 horsepower Cosworth motor they use in European Ford Rally cars would be ideal!

Persoanlly I think if you are going to want a car in the same class as the WRX STi they should work on an AWD version of the Focus.

I hear it is rather heavy... if it is going to go against non-"muscle" cars then it will have to lighten up, which shouldn't be too hard considering its a coupe (or should I say "coupay" :P)

Wow the back looks hot. I want to see the front.

Yeah, that guy looks like he want to pull out his Uzi and pump some lead at you.:soscared:

Thats true a road package would be nice or vice versa a live axle package for the v8's ;)

Looks cool. I hope Ford can survive long enough to make it in 2009. ;)

I am sure they are not going anywhere. I think the new man in charge is going to really help them out.

Plus, they just took out a loan for 18 Billion so if they don't survive the bank will take over. LOL

I made a post before, but it got deleted because I accidentally clicked the "back" button! ugh

Anyways, summary:

* Looks nice!

* What's with the shovel-shifter? Lol that looks like a misshift waiting to happen!

* Get rid of the lambo doors!

* Lighten it up! It's too heavy

And then I think we'll have a nice new Mustang :)

It is just a concept so I am sure it will look a lot different if they run with it. One thing I like but hope would not make it on the production model is the one piece glass winshield, roof, and rear window.

The IRS question was asked and answered on the last Mustang redo for 2005. Same for the small motor turbo. Look up the sales numbers for the SVO. Ford also had ideas about making the Mustang on a FWD platform. They got thousands of angry letters for that idea.

Ford has learned that Mustangs will always be front engine rear wheel drive inexpensive cars with available V8s.

The Mustang does not compete with the WRX nor should it. I own a 2004 Mach1 and a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT (turbo). The last thing i want is for either car to take on the characteristics of the other and turn into something completely unrecognizeable. As for your 400hp Cosworth 4 cylinder turbo Escort raly motor, I suggest you look up how many miles you can put on one before it needs to be rebuilt.

ALOT! The blue top Cosworth motors are boost crazy!1 The more you feed them, the more they love it. You would have to rebuild the turbo before the engine on them. Just don't over upgrade a componet and you will be golden with reliability.

Yeah, I was going to say, there is NO WAY Ford would release an updated mustang so soon. They have a hot seller right now, why would they spend so much money to re-tool a car that was selling so well? Not to mention, American car makers tend to carry designs for a long time.
