2008 VDub GTI in Black Magic

2008 GTI w/ approx 15k miles.

Exterior detail only.

The dealership was kind enough to wash it for the client and then they buffed it out as well.

The wash they did left some not so nice RIDS, and the buffing left this:

photouz5.jpg

I started by rinsing everything off and sprayed PS21s wheel cleaning gel to the wheels. I let this dwell while I washed the car with Z7 car wash and the 2BM.

I sprayed the wells and tires with AM red hot APC and scrubbed them.

I then scrubbed the wheels with various wheel cleaning brushes.

Gave everything a good rinse and then clayed the car with Zaino clay and Z6 as a lube. Rinsed the car once more and then dried with quality WW MFs.

I wiped the paint down with IPA.

I compounded the paint with what Rydawg calls "da ballz" combo.

Here you can see the light holograms on the right from where the paint was compounded and on the left you can see the RIDS and heavy holograms:

Most areas had to be compounded twice.

I then final polished the paint with ZPC/Flex 3401/green german CCS at 5. I then did a wipedown with Z6.

Here are some after polishing pics:

You might note a light hologram left near the gas cap in this pic. I repolished the area w/ ZPC before applying a LSP.

I then applied 2x of Z5pro with ZFX followed by Z8.

What did you use for the polish stage? How did you find the paint to be? I have a 2007 VW GTI and I'm looking to get rid of similar defects.

Is there a hard clear on the newer VW's like the Mercedes?

Car looks awesome, great work..

"Da Ballz" combo was put together and tested by Ryan and Rick. These guys are like mad scientists creating out of this world combos at skunk works. I just worry that if I reveal the exact combo, men in black suits w/ black suburbans will take me away. :)

If you look at a recent post by Rick, he used it to compound out a BMW.

Thank you astralboy0! Its pretty hard clear like all VWs and Audi's.

Wow Bryan, the car looks "Da Ballz"!! ;) :)

Why would you want to ruin that beautiful "detail" done by the dealership?

Great job bringing it back to perfection! :xyxthumbs

The client was happy to have her baby looking its best again.

Great job Bryan, I have a 08 black GTI too. Lucky for me the dealership listened when I told them not to touch the paint.
