2008 tiburon

Thinking about buying a 2008 Tiburon V-6 with 8500 miles for 16K - does anyone have any experience good or bad?

Automatic or Manual? Cloth or Leather? What Color? I have a 2008 tiburon and my dad has a 2004. My whole family drives Hyundais, we have never had any major mechanical problems. I had a 2006 Sonata before that. First thing I added to my tiburon was a Cold Air Intake. There are alot of aftermarket accessorys and performance parts for them. Really cant beat the warrenty though, 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper. Had to use it on the sonota, it was a used rental car, needed a new power seat switch etc.. Dealership replaced it without any hassle, even gave me a Sante Fe to drive till it was done. Only problem is now I want a V8 Genesis Coupe. but that would be just for weekends. I'm getting 25mpg driving 30 miles one way to work.

Thanks for answering.....started looking for the Genesis but saw the Tiburon on the lot. It's black, automatic, black leather and half the price so that's why I got interested.

Yeah, to get a Genesis the way I want would be out of my price range, I got a fully loaded tiburon for less than half like you said.. I have an automatic also.. I've gotten it up to about 130mph and it was smooth as could be. If you drive aggressive your mpg will be from 18 to the low 20's.. Mine is mostly highway driving, not too much traffic.

The Genesis Coupe only comes with a V6. No V8s at this time.

Actually, it comes with the V6 OR the turbo 4. I want one pretty bad too. Right now I have a 2005 Tiburon with several mods and I have had ZERO mechanical issues since I bought it new back in Sept '05.

If you do get it, make sure you check out newtiburon.com and/or crookedh.com.

The 2008 Tuburon is a well equiped and sorted car. It has been phased out for the newer rwd Genesis coupe. What you do get is a 6 speed manual/6cyl combo, decent handling/ride, relaibility and nice styling all at a discounted price.

What Edmunds.com says

Though affordable, the 2008 Hyundai Tiburon's age, lack of power and tame handling put it near the bottom of our list for a sport coupe.

Pros

Clean interior styling, affordable price, long warranty.

Cons

Handling not as sharp as most rivals, weak engines, dated design.

the 100k warranty does not transfer to the 2nd+ owner, lame. it's a sales tactic, but most ppl don't keep their cars for 100K miles so when you try to sell it w/o that - they depreciate like crazy. i bought a 2007 kia optima with 60K for barely $6K and use it as a commuter car (keep the miles off the bmw). but then again who cares about resale, most cars lose value like crazy anyway.

they're decent transportation appliances, and they're cheap. but yea - their design is a several years behind the other guys. everytime i look at my kia i picture Kim Jong Il driving it in front of some military march
