2008 Mazda3 full exterior detail.

Finally I had a day where I wasn't too busy, and it was actually nice enough to do a full exterior detail on my car. I have no before pics since the paint was in really good shape to begin with, it only had very minor micro marring, but the paint was REALLY dirty.

Process:

- Wash w/Palmoilve dish soap.

- Clay with Zaino Z-18 Claybar (This was a new bar, but I had to throw it away when I was done b/c it was so dirty).

- Polish with UDM & Pinnacle XMT #1 using a Lake Country Low-Profile 5.5" white light cutting pad.

- Zaino Z-AIO applied with UDM & Lake Country 5.5" Grey finishing pad.

- Zaino Z2 Pro applied by hand.

- Zaino ZCS

- Zaino Z-6 wipedown

- Rain-X glass cleaner on all exterior glass.

- Wheels cleaned with Meguiar's All Wheel, then sealed with ZCS.

- Door jambs, under hood, etc. wiped down with ONR/H2O mixture.

I took lots of pics from different angles to try and show the bling.

Car looks great.

However, one pointer I'd like to add... Get yourself a wheel brush to get the insides of the wheels (barrels) clean. It will make quite a noticeable difference and set the wheels off even more (along with using some tire shine).

Great job. Once again Zaino comes through. I absolutely love AIO. How do you like applying it by machine?

Patrick

It's just fine to apply by machine, the grey LC pads work best since AIO is more of a cleaner polish.

Really nice work, crystal clear paint! :)

I guess I can thank Mazda for that. It seems like they put quality first when it comes to paint jobs. The paint on my '94 RX-7 is still in very nice condition. It seems like the clear coat is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as hardness goes. The 3 has 10K miles on it right now, but on my last car, a 2004 Dodge SRT-4, the paint was absolutely trashed at 10K & needed serious correction.

Mazda generally does an excellent job with their paints, especially the metallics. I loved the paint on my Velocity Red RX-8.

Great job on the detail!
