2008 G5 GT My first Detail

Well I since I finally got my order last week, this weekend I spent around 13 hours on my car, a BLACK 2008 Pontiac G5 GT.

Now to preface this, I believe that, Saturday morning when I got up to start, the temperature was ~30F and the first spray I started on my car to get the initial frost/ice off to wash refroze. I had to let my car run as I started to wash to warm up the panels so the water wouldn't freeze. I guess that makes me normal among my peers here, but crazy to anyone else who doesn't understand.

I started out wearing 3 layers and finished up in shorts and a t-shirt. Got up this morning to put on the Fuzion after letting the DGPS cure overnight.

And of course the only way I could let it cure overnight without getting it wet was to have it in the garage, which is full of boxes. Luckily, my wife was out of town for the weekend, so I moved the boxes into the house Friday night so I could put the car in Saturday night. And when she returned home today, the garage was back to normal. Does that make me crazy?

Anyway, I got about 90% of the swirls/scratches out. So I am pleased with how it turned out. If I had all day today I would have done more correcting, but my schedule wouldn't allow it.

I do still hate this state (South Carolina). The roads suck. You notice all the pock marks in the hood? I have only had my car since last August =(

In the half and half, was the half without wax and sealant already corrected? Or is that combo just that damn good?

Nice job for your first detail. It is wierd to see recent posts and pics with no snow on the ground...I look out my window and all I see is about a foot and a half of snow on the lawn...lol

That half and half only had SIP, 106,and Paintwork Polish Enchancer. No sealant or wax.

I was quite amazed myself actually.

That GTP across the street is my wife's. I was in a neighbor's driveway for the pictures since it had better sun lol.

That one is scheduled for President's day weekend in February. You will see another post about that as long as the weather cooperates.

That's a great improvement and a great job.

I'm trying to be helpful and not negative here - but for a new car there were a lot of swirls. I would suggest you re-examine your washing methods.

Yup. Had a bug sponge I was using for the whole car. I am now educated. That sponge is retired and I have a MF mitt now. Also was drying with a synthetic chamois, now I have MF towels to dry as well.

Thanks for the advice.
