2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV

Hello all, I purchased a 2008 Escalade a couple months ago. It is Black Raven and looks to be pretty well taken care of. I noticed in direct sunlight and high light situations it is swirled and on the back panels the scratches go from front to back. The rear bumper is heavily swirled/scratched but not past the clear coat. What is the best way to start the reconditioning of this finish? What method, wax, swirl remover, machine, etc. I need step by step from start to finish, because I want my truck to look great. Thanks!!

Rich.

Very hard to recommend a specific pad and polish to start with since the vehicle isn't in front of me. You will at least need a proper DA polisher like the Griots, Meguiars G110 or PC 7424 XP plus a few cutting and polishing pads and compounds and polishes. Meguiars new microfiber pads and D300 compound might be enough to correct the finish, followed by Meguiars #205 or Optimum Hyper Polish with a foam polishing pad and then your choice of wax or sealant. I'd suggest reading through the machine polishing forum for proper DA use and polish/pad selection before starting.

Thanks for the answer, I have been doing a lot of reading on this site and I think I have come to a descision. But first I wanted to ask how the Griots waxes and machine polish? I have read so much about the different waxes and I am looking for a wax that will look wet and deep, but offer good UV protection as I am moving to Miami for a couple years. Some people swear by Pinnacle, Natty Blue, CG Petes, etc. I understand it's all about what YOU like but I'm the guy who never knew there was a difference in waxes....I just bought spray wax off the shelf and thought I was doing a good job. What a joke that was. So now I want to do it correctly, and maybe correct some mistakes the PO made on my truck. Also I have been looking at the kits on Amazon. They come with the DA polisher and waxes and polishes. There are several different ones and I am trying to decide between these few.....

Amazon.com: Griot's Garage 11605STDCRD 6" Machine Polish and Wax Kit: Automotive

Amazon.com: Show Car Kit Pinnacle Porter Cable 7424XP Kit: Automotive

I'd probably go with the Griots polisher and either the new Optimum microfiber system or Optimum's new spray polishes. I have the most experience with them and great results. I'd go with Optimum Opti-Seal to protect since that is a huge vehicle and OS is so quick to apply. Good protection, especially against bird bombs.
