I just bought a used 2008 lariat blak w/ black leather. I bought it from the dealership I work for. I had seen the truck before i bought it and it was in rough shape with hard water spots all over. From the condition of the interior, this truck was used very lightly and probably sat most of its life. With that being said, the hard water spots looked like it was from a lawn sprinkler. The detailer isnt a precision detailer. Im not knocking his work since he is paid to detail used cars and get them ready for sale. He had clayed the truck, leveled out the water spots with Ardex alpha grit and waxed it with megiars yellow wax. I know when the yellow wax wears that this truck will be swirled to death.

I have been out of the detailing game for quite some time now and so many of the products have changed. I went with CG V36, V38 black light and V37. For the leather, I went with CG Cleaner and conditioner and bought all new pads from Lake Country for my Porter cable.

My question is, will this do what I need it to do to make this truck look pristine again or will I need something more to undo what the alpa grit cut into? Also, the leather hasnt been touched since new. Will the CG product work or will I need more. Back in the day, we used dawn dish soap to strip any wax off. Is this still a preferred method or is there a better product to do that job

The optical polishes you mentioned will remove quite a few of the swirls and water marks. There may be some deeper scratches and swirls you won't remove without stepping up to a compound but you should be very happy with all of those products working together. Let us know how everything went and post pics for sure. I've used the CG leather conditioner and I love it and I think you will too.
