Due to be officially announced tomorrow at the New York auto show. Guess Ford couldn't hold out another day :D



5.4L Supercharged V8 pushing 450hp, only downside is it will also be pushing $40,000

The front end looks awesome, but they should really consider some more noticebale side skirts. I find the ugliest part of the new Mustang to be the extremely bland side view front the waist down.



Is that a new Lightning I see?
 
:woot: i wonder if a pulley swap will push the horsepower past 500? :p



and GT500. then a GT350 should be in the works too. this is a great time to be a Mustang owner! ;)

Looks like an awesome machine to fill the gap until Ford decides to build a replacement for the Lightning. 390hp Supercharged 4.6L V8. The stats on the motor look suprising like the 03/04 Cobra motor.



Looks like SVT is definitely back in the game :D

Ford also announced a new color for the Ford GT to celebrate the GT40's 40th Anniversary of sweeping LeMans in 1966.

Oh man, I will certainly have to get one of those when they come out....the GT500 I mean. That is the baddest mustang I have ever seen. Thank you so much for sharing!
 
To those who have already seen this thread, I added a couple of pics to my initial post. Also, looks like Ford removed the info from the Ford Media site that I linked to but, I will see if I can post more info when it is officially announced tomorrow.

Agreed. The sides make it look like a brick. Very uneventful. But the Cobra is much improved over the V6 and GT :xyxthumbs

No, it's technically not called a Lightning. It's called the Ford SVT Adrenaline. Basically, a Lightning with 4 doors :xyxthumbs

I'll bet FROD (NOT a typo) will put crappy rods, 4 spark plug threads in heads, and a "smart" PCM to render it unmodifyable in to that wanna-be L as they have in previous ones......

I assume you are talking about the Adrenaline? There is little info on the motor but, the specs would indicate that it is running the 03/04 Mustang Cobra motor (forged).



I don't think Ford has a PCM yet that can't be re-programmed. You can't do it by chip now but, it can still be re-flashed through the OBD port. There are hand held programmers out there for the Lightning and already for the '05 Mustang.

Why is the $40K price tag a down side? What other car can you get with that kind of power and looks for under $40K? And for $500 dollars in aftermarket goodies, you will be pushing atleast 500RWHP, quite the bargain in my book.:D

Well, considering how a pulley swap, exhaust swap, and predator tune-up on an 04' will put you past the 600hp mark, I'm sure the same thing would put you past the 700hp mark on this one.

Simple, I can't afford a $40K car :o It may not be a downside to everyone :) The Shelby Cobra Mustang is now approaching the Corvette price range.

Yep, the 03' and 04' Cobra motors have Manley rods and JE pistons with six bolt main caps. These motors can handle 700hp+ with no problem. Definitely more than the drivetrain can handle, that's for sure.
 
Well I get 5% below invoice on one if I want. I'm seriously thinking about one, but my heart is with the 03/04 Cobra for life. Hopefully a mystichrome!:D I will have another, and the HP #'s will be very high!
