2007 Lamborghini Murcielago and Telsa Model S w/Opti-Coat Pro

Owner contacted me earlier this month about having a couple of his cars coated. I was surprised to see how swirl free the Tesla was, especially since it was a 2012 model. Maybe the pearl paint is harder? The Lamborghini did have swirls, mostly on the sides, most pronounced on the rear fenders, no doubt from people leaning over them to work on it.

Couple before shots of the Lambo. Not too bad but the paint was really hard.

This is the Tesla polished with Opti-Coat Primer: Really nice polish. Has decent cut (very pad dependent) and leaves a wet, gloss finish.

Full Process:

ONR wash

Opti-Raser Pink (mild)-neither car seemed to have much on them at all

Meguiars M100 using a Meguiars MF cutting pad and Rupes 21 DA on the doors and rear fenders-Lamborghini only

Rupes Keramik Gloss with an Optimum MF cutting pad and Rupes 21 DA on the front/back ends, black plastic, spoiler-Lamborghini only

Optimum Opti-Coat Primer using an Optimum orange foam waffle cutting pad and Rupes 21 DA

Optimum Coating

Optimum Glass Coating on the windshields

Armor All on tires/wheel wells

You get a 4 oz bottle of it with the 40cc tube of Optimum Coating (pro version). Really nice stuff, cut is close to Hyper Polish, wipes off clean and helps the coating bond better.

A bit of a change from the corollas posted in the recent past.... :)

Great job on those two.

Two extreme forms of automotive technology on one stop :)

Scott, do you still do a wash after the Optimum Primer polish?

You don't have to but make sure you go over the car carefully to make sure there isn't any residue left behind, some use a damp towel followed by a dry one. Wipes off nicely though, very easy to work with.

Nice work guys! Nice garage to work in! Primer needs to be sold as a "Soft Finish" corrector. Give HD a run for there money.
