This video was shot May 7th, 2007 at Irvine, California - El Toro Air Force Base. That day the Lingenfelter 2006 Z06 Corvette 427 CID Twin Supercharged blasted down the 10,900 foot runway from a dead stop to a measured mile at 260.32 MPH in 20.13 seconds.

:wow:

Do want! Best part is the 3:05 mark with the in car view. The lift on acceleration through the first 4 gears is incredible!

From what I read on other sites, the actual time was about 25 seconds to reach 226 in the standing mile. Not sure what to believe but even with the slower time, it is still hella quick.

yeah i think 260 isnt right considering the veyron has 1100bhp, and a body designed to get the car going that fast, and i believe the top speed on that is 255.

i doubt the z06 was designed to hit those speeds safely.

John Lingenfelter (rip) explained to an acquaintance who he was building an engine for that at 200 mph the side mirrors on a Corvette took 5 hp from the car.

It wasn't designed to hit those speeds, but that doesn't mean that it can't. The Veyron and a few other "super" cars are the only ones that were "designed" to hit those speeds. The Veyron has 1001 hp not 1100 and weighs substantially more than a Vette. Also, it takes a Veyron a looooong distance to reach it's max speed. This Vette attained it's speed in a standing mile sprint.

I think Scott is correct though. 226 sounds a lot more realistic for that car with that kind of power.

Very sweet car. It almost gave me a headache keeping up with the constant shaking camera.

Agreed. No one had a camcorder with steady shot or a tripod? Must've been the guy from Blair Witch filming it. :D

My god that is a lot of corvette. You would have to be a professional driver to handle all that power.

No, you wouldn't actually... But it takes a lot of concentration to drive it on the street. Trust me, I know.

Here's a car that we built. It makes 1265rwhp/1103rwtq at 18 psi.. The boost can still be turned up to 28 psi and if we use the 250 shot of nitrous the car will make over 2xxx/2xxx to the wheels.
