2006 Suzuki Bike Full Detail

Here is the detail of a 2006 Suzuki I did.

It had never been washed or waxed since he picked it up from the dealer. There was still some wax residue on some parts of the body. Not cool.

Products:

NXT Car Wash
Clay Kit
M80
M83
M66
M07
M21
Hyper Dressing
W-8006
Foam Applicator Pads
Supreme Shine MF's
Multi Piece Wheel Cleaner

M39 and M40

Process:

So let me explain. The process was not your normal process as you'll see.

Wash with NXT Car Wash Soap
Clay
M80 with W - 8006
M83 with W - 8006 and by hand
M66 with W - 8006 and by hand
M07 by hand
M21 by hand

After the wash and clay I inspected the surface and found it was covered with swirls. So I thought out my plan of attack and went at it. I was hoping to only have to use M80, as usually its good for most jobs. However, I wasn't getting the results I wanted with M80, even after a two-three passes. So I bumped it up to M83 and started getting the results I wanted and those swirls were quickly going away. And although I'd usually follow with something like M80, I didn't. After two passes of M83, I followed it up with M66 because the black was so scratch sensitive. It was hard for me to wipe off the product without putting more swirls in.

After I finished that I put on a nice thin coat of M07 for added richness and shine which was exactly what I was going for and exactly what I got. I was so happy using M07 this time as I got the results I wanted. I followed that up with M21 and got some, in my opinion, AMAZING RESULTS that I'm totally happy with.

All non painted surfaces, hoses, tubes, were cleaned with M39 or M40 and then dressed with Hyper Dressing 6:1.

Wheels and rims were cleaned with soap and water and Multi Piece Wheel Cleaner with a Supreme Shine Microfibre.

I did not dress the seat, or tires as we all know its too dangerous to do that. <br />

Start Time: 1:00pm
End Time: 4:45 with some breaks in there for me to set up on my garage, and organize it etc...

Now here are the pics for you.

BEFORE

Look at those swirls. It was a brand new bike.

The bike was super dirty. The pictures don't do it justice in showing how dirty it really was. The tires, wheels. Dirty.

Gotta love the swirls.

Here is the trunk lid. This was a pain to deswirl. Took me a long time to achieve the results I wanted and eventually got.

Swirls were everywhere. Poor Bike.

The tape wasn't sticking on this day. It was making me mad. It looks sloppy and that makes me mad too.

Your welcome.

Will share more of my work with you guys.

I hope that all of our clients appreciate our work, but sometimes they don't. This guy did.

I'm sure we've done details where we've gone above and beyond, customer has gone, said, looks great, bye. Ah well I guess.

:inspector: Sweet

Thanks.

OUTSTANDING work on that soft clear! :bigups

I can't figure out why manufacturers are putting such soft clear on something that they know is going to get laquered with bugs that require some serious scrubbing to get off. I've gone to 1-stepping whatever I use that gets the swirls out. The more finishing and touching I do the more swirls I find I'm putting back in.

Lemme pick your brain on your process... if you were going with M07 & M21 why even bother with M66? Or were they an afterthought after you used the M66?

I've never been a fan of glazes as I'd rather correct than cover up. But the next time I do my black bike it's getting M07... picked up a bottle the other day expressly with that in mind. I'm gonna try misting the MF with ONR at QD strength to remove polish residue and try to minimize the added swirls. Darn thing gets me so frustrated I've considered giving it a dose of rattle-can black bedliner and just Armor-All it and forget about swirls! :wall

Thanks for that.

No about your question. This is why. I hope this makes sense.

I tried M80 and just didn't get what I wanted. So I bumped it up to M83. The paint was so scratch sensitive, that I knew from past experience, that M66, if worked properly, was good at getting rid of minor swirls/blemishes and micro marring. Everytime I wiped off the M80/M83 I had to be so careful and slow, as to not scratch the paint and all the work I had just done. Even though its a cleaner-wax (M66) and has some polishing oils in it, and I knew I was going to follow with M07 and M21, I felt that M66 was the best choice in this case. Usually I'd do M80, but it was so scratch sensitive, I want a more of all in one with some cleaning ability.

Different types of abrasives will react differently on different types of paint, so I did try a little test spot and just didn't get the results I wanted. Knew to try M66, did and it worked.

Then I went with a pure polish for some more shine followed by my LSP in M21.

As for them being an afterthought. No, I knew, with the bike being black, that I love the way M07 glaze puts a deep shine into the paint. I knew this from before, when I had done a black car and noticed a side-by-side comparison on the hood (half M07, other half nothing), so I noted the difference and results for a future detail. And this what that future detail. And then M21 was the protection.

Hope that helps.

Anything else just ask or PM.

Thanks for the info, makes sense. On super-soft clears it seems you've gotta think outside the box. I saw a post somewhere where one guy couldn't get 205 or any other finishing polish to finish without marring after trying every "normal" method and just for grins he tried a LC yellow and got a mirror finish!

Then when you get that finish touching the paint to apply M07 and an LSP leaves you the risk of reswirling. :wall I'm betting that Suzuki doesn't look quite that good after the first time the owner wipes it down. I see marks using any high-lubricity QD or even ONR using my plushest MF.

Thanks.. TL

I agree and I'll raise you one terry cloth/shop rag and one bucket wash with Dawn.
