This detail was completed Sunday and the first day in a while I have had a car in my hands with good sunlight all day. It is a 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with Turbo wheels. The owner was very nice and dropped the car off at my house around 9am. The car was pretty dirty with lots of water spotting. Swirls were moderate. Little ticked off that while transferring files to my computer half of my halogen before/afters were corrupted and lost :( Another thing that I was unpleased about is in the sun shots and got bad solar flare for some reason and most of the shots have this light blue half circle with a big white dot in them. :(

Process:

Wash and Clay

Menz IP/FPII (70/30) with Orange cut pad @ 1500rpms Most of the car received this step but not all.

Menz IP/FPII (50/50) with white polish pad @ 1500rpms

Menz 106FF with blue finesse pad @ 1500rpms ->1000rpms

Zymol Destiny

Z16 on tires. AA in wheel wells.

Exhuast tips polished with Flitz

Windows cleaned with spray away

Total Time: 8.5 hours

Interior was a quick wipe down with vacuum. Also wiped down the engine bay.

Before Pics after the wash.

Wow man, that looks amazing! I'm out in Leesburg, I might have to come with you to see how you do these paint transformations. I'm in awe at how clear and wet the paint looks when you are done.

Keep up the good work man! :2thumbs:

Stunning depth.... GOOD JOB!!

edit: I also noticed that the paint job is impeccable. I've only seen a few cars with such a good paint job..

Bad News: Customer called me today and mentioned seeing "half circles" on the front end of the hood and fenders. I didnt get to talk to him much today to get more info whether the half circles are large and overlapping, or if they were real small (micromarring). Possbile problems it could be... Streaking or marring from when I dusted the car several times with MF and QD before the owner showed up. I highly doubt they are buffer holograms since I checked my work under the sun several times. :( :( Needless to say I am bummed since this is the first time I have ever had someone call me the nextday about defects in my work.

01: Looking stunning!

Don't sweat the call...I've had my fair share and I'm sure any pro on this site has as well. I find on some paints, no matter what, the PC is the only choice to finish...and...wipe down with IPA...Yes, it may take away from Menzerna bling, but hey, it saves that phone call after it rains :).

That's odd, maybe im just better with the rotary then I am with PC. Everytime I use the PC here and there, even with RMG and finish pad, I get lots of TINY micromarring from the "jiggling" on soft paint. Maybe my PC is busted?? Oh well. Im making arrangements to revisit the car and correct whatever it may be.

You are doing some cool cars lately Chris. Congrats.

Wait till you see what I have coming up!! ;) :woot2: :woot2: :woot2: I dont want to give away the surprise to everyone.

The paint looks amazingly wet and deep!

Chris-I recently had to go back out and redo an Accord because under the light I had, it looked perfect but due to a weird problem with polishes gumming on the paint, I didn't get out all the defects I thought I had. It happens, none of us are perfect.

I know how you feel Chris. It could be that the paint is so friggin shiny, the guy can't keep his hands off of it and wipes some dust into the paint with his hand. Everytime I get a person picking up there car, they always start rubbing the paint and I yell out do not rub the paint as it could have dust from the atmosphere on it.

I know the shinier you get them, the more the hand marring will show up, especially in the spring with all the dust and pollen in the air.

It seems like they all want to rub that drivers fender and make those half swipe circles the shape of the hand swipe.

Black Porsches RULE! Nice work!

Chris, If you saw the black Porsche that I posted last week those pictures were taken a week after the detail. Nothing washed away(car was driven in the rain and I washed it) and it was finished with 106ff and LC green on the rotary. It has happened to all of us though. Like you, I finish better with the rotary than the PC.
