2006 Lexus GS300 AWD - Prepped to Sell

Belonging to a now regular client of mine, I had to prep this one for sale. Basically just meant to make it visually clean and protected in every way; swirls were really not an issue. This car has a tick over 16k on the clock, but really hasn't been driven in the past 3 months. Due to this, plenty of sap bonded to the horizontals and gunk compiled in the door jams. Other than that, a pretty textbook cleanup.

For the interior, I went with:

-Folex to pretreat carpets and clean leather/vinyl/rubber/plastic

-Steam cleaned all carpets and mats

-Dawn washed the jams

-Zaino Z10 on all leather, vinyl, rubber, plastic

-Stoner's Invisible Glass for the windows, mirrors, gauges, and nav screen

-Zaino Z8 final interior wipe down (jams too)

For the exterior, as aforementioned, some sap, bird droppings, and plenty of brake dust and road soot. The nose was covered by bug guts. As with any white car, clay and a cleaner polish are your best friends. Surprisingly, the paint overall had very few mars/swirls on it. My finals were:

-Dawn wash with grout sponge

-Zaino Z18 clay with Dawn wash as lube

-EFHI cut 3:1 to clean tires/wells (x2)

-P21s wheel cleaner and multiple brushes for the wheels

-Zaino Z-AIO via rotary and LC finishing pad @ 1000 rpm on paint and lighting (mixed with a little Z-PC for a couple R.I.D.S.)

-Zaino Z-PC and #0000 Steel Wool followed by Z8 on exhaust

-Zaino Z2 Pro on paint, lighting, and glass

-Zaino Z16 on tires x 2

-Chemical Guys VRT cut 2:1 on wells

Cheers.

Sean that sure came out nice for just a *quick* cleanup. I spoke to a guy today that just bought a used '06 in black and wants it to look like a new car.;)

Chris: It still took me about 6 hours. I wanted to be very thorough with the finer details. It also allowed me to find and point out a couple spots where the owner should take note before selling (bulging tire, blistering paint on wheels...which will be covered under warranty; and a couple minor touch ups from rock chips). This way it will be like purchasing a new car.

Good luck with your client's '06; I'm sure it won't be quite as easy to work on as pearl white :).

gtpaul: Likewise. It's such an elegant colour.

Love the pearl in the paint, really makes the white paint look appealing in the sun.

What are your thoughts on the grout sponge for washing? Do you feel it is a safe washing tool, or would you use it more for customers vehicles before a detail?

Car looks great, inside and out. :)

micnic: I agree. A pleasure to work with across the board and it looks great.

Bigpoppa: I like it more and more each time I use it, but I honestly think you need a foam gun to use it on a consistent basis. The lubricity from a sheepskin isn't quite there, but the sponge is soo durable. I know SpoiledMan loves it, so I am seeing the light.
