2006 Dodge Ram-HD Speed/Nitro Seal Review

This past weekend I had some time to get some much needed TLC time in on my 2006 Dodge Ram. The winter was pretty rough and it was time for a much needed spring cleanup. I decided to try out two new 3D products I recently picked up (HD Speed and HD Nitro Seal).

Process:

Wash with DG 901 and MF mitt
Decon with IronX
Clay with Speedy Prep Towel Fine and ONR as lube
HD Speed with Rupes 21 and new Meguiars polishing pad (yellow)
HD Speed with GG with Buff and Shine green pad
HD Nitro Seal
PERL 1:1 on tires
PERL 3:1 on tonneau cover
OCW on door jamb and wheels

Thoughts:

I don’t have the time anymore for full corrections on my daily drivers and it’s why I have switched to AIO’s. For me they are much easier to work with, take less, time and since I usually top them anyway it’s a win win for me. HD Speed is such a pleasure to work with and is one of the best AIO’s I have used. Cuts fantastic, goes forever, and is a breeze to remove. I don’t mind if it’s durable or not since I always end up topping my AIO’s with a sealant.

I did get some dusting with the Rupes 21 and the Meguiars pad with HD Speed but none with the GG and the Buff and Shine green pad. I am not sure if this had to do the larger throw of the Rupes. One of the keys to HD Speed is using less. If you use to much you will definitely get dusting. I was only using 2 small dots once the pad was primed. I would work about half of my truck and then go back and remove the HD Speed. This seemed to make things go much faster.

HD Nitro Seal is a pleasure to work with. Basically you apply Part A then go back over and apply Part B over top. I waited about 45 minutes to remove Part B and removal was very easy. Part A was very liquid and spread forever. A little went a long long way and I applied it to all my glass as well as my paint. Part B is more like a liquid Proxy consistency and I would describe the look as very wet and glossy. Very similar to say Zaino Z5 with that sharp sealant look. I am curious to see how well the durability is. I was thrilled with how it came out on red.

I actually got some mild micro marring from the Speed Prep towel even with using ONR as lube. The HD Speed removed it with no problem but I was surprised even when I was using the fine version and after breaking it in on my glass.

I have an 07 Ram of the same color that I had Nitro Seal on for a little over a year. I think you'll be quite pleased. After a year it had plenty of life left in it and the only reason I changed was because I wanted to try out Pinnacle Black Label. During that time if did a great job of staying clean, great beading, washed up easy, and I had to really search for any defects when I polished it before putting the black label on. Pretty good stuff. Your truck looks great btw.

I also agree with your thoughts on Speed. Looks great and is super easy to use.
