2006 Cts-v

This one took me a long time to complete.

Process:

Wash

Clay

M83 on the hood and front (sand blasted by a dump truck in front of me)

M80

M82

#7

M21

I am going to let the 21 cure and then top with Z2 or M16, not sure yet. Any thoughts?

I did not take any before pics and it was cloudy the day I took the pics but the ones in the garage turned out good. This is a daily driver so it has its share of nicks and chips.

Dan, the car looks stunning...not to mention I love the CTS-V. I have one question for you though. In our process you said that you did 83, 80 and then 82. Can you please explain why you use a glaze (80) and then polish again with (82)? Is there an advantage to the to polish-glaze-polish-glaze technique?

What kind of machine and what pad did you use for the #83? Did you find it hard to use? Also, did it leave a lot of dusting? I'm waiting for a good day to use my #83/#80 for the first time, and I'm trying to get as much information as possible before I begin polishing.

I like your pictures! Extremely slick and wet paint :)

Very nice reflection shots especially the hood one looking at the ceiling. Nice job!

What are those wheels on the top shelf? They look nice (and wide).

The paint on this car is very scratch sensitive. After I finished with th #80 I was not happy with it. I was told to give #82 a try after the #80 and that cleaned it up very nicely. You could really start to see it pop when I finished with the 82

I used the megs 8006 pad on both the #83 and #80. I used the 9006 pad with the #82. The #83 did leave more dusting than the 80 or 82 but it was not too bad. It took me a while to get the work time down. The first few times I was not working it long enough.

Those are off of my old 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. Gonna put those on ebay one of these days.

did 21 bond to 7?).

This is the third car I have done. The first one I did about two months ago and it is still doing good. It was #80 topped with #21. Meguiar's says all there products work together.

I have some Zaino Z2 and Z5 pro that I will top with this fall. Sounds like it wont do me anygood to top with that now. I will top with some M16 next weekend. I will wash and clay this fall and then apply the Zaino to give me some lasting protection through the winter.

Thanks for all the comments.

Dan

Thanks Dan. That is kind of what I thought but thank you for clarifying. The car looks great and I hope you have some fun it! The best part about those cars is that most people have no idea what's under the hood. Eevryone sees Caddy and thinks grandma-mobile...this aint your granny's caddy!!

Nice work. Where in Alabama are you? I am in Birmingham.

I really want one of those Barber's tags...but my personalized tag has 6 letters and the Barber's only allows for 5.

I love that shot of the hood very nice.

I absolutely love those cars the gearbox is such a blast to throw around. Lets not forget the G meter, oh what a blast!

Great looking work!

For literally the first time in my life, Cadillac is making good looking cars. Either that or I'm just getting old! :grinno:

I am from Homewood. I just graduated from UA so I am currently in Tuscaloosa, and will be for two more years b/c I start graduate school in the fall. I spend a lot of time up in Birmingham though, especially during summer.

It's always nice to find other local auto enthusiasts.
