I worked on a 2006 Corvette today. Very cool car, and very fun to work on. It is not a Z06, but the owner is installing a supercharger in it very soon to give it Z06-like power. He gave me a ride in it, and needless to say, I was impressed :spot .

Process:

-Wash with Meguiars Gold Class and a natural sheepskin washmitt

-Clay with Meguiars Mild clay (Final inspection as lubricant)

-Polish with Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze on PC with #8006 Pad (Speed 5, Speed 6 in some sections)

-Wax with P21s Carnauba Wax

-Seal with Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant

-Meguiars #7 Showcar Glaze applied last

Wheels cleaned with Meguiars All-purpose cleaner plus, and polished with Meguiars NXT All Metal Polish. Tires dressed with Hyper Dressing.

And for the pictures...

I just used #7 on my tundra its good stuff but it leaves oils even tho its squeaky clean when its applied, heres how i did it #7 then duraglass pba to ensure bonding over possible #7 residue then duragloss #105 two coats 12 hours cure between them then aqua wax 12 hours later. that order cause #7 will strip the finish clean i figure. someone let me know if I'm wrong on this. the vette looks great tho you mite want to redo the sealer maybe.

Yea bud. The #7 took the protection off.

No it didn't...

Applying #7 over a wax of sealent is fine, as it contains no abrasives in the product (provided the wax/sealent under #7 had time to cure and you didn't rub hard enough to make your applicator abrasive).

I actually spoke in length with Mike Phillips about this, as I used to top #26 with #7 every once in a while.

You did nothing wrong, only backwords (which is fine, BTW). #7 can really make paint pop because of its oil qualities, and IMO, it looks better when applied on top of a wax/sealent because its more pure. Infact a lot of guys/gals I spoke to do the traditonal #7 then wax on their show cars, then top with #7 again right before the show.

The only downside, of course, its a temporary boost in apperance as #7 is gone quickly.
