2006 Acura TL Nighthawk Black Pearl w/ Ebony Interior first new car

Hello all,

I know that people haven't heard much from me lately but still have been busy detailing on the side.... I have been browsing the forum alot thoug, just not really posting. On a good note, I sold my 2003 Acura CL-S NBP on Ebony cause I missed the four door.... It was a great car, just wanted the extra 2 doors again...

So, lets go onto the detail.... I know everyone is against dealer prep of a new car but I saw the work of the Springfield Acura, NJ and was impressed so I let them do it. Yes, even with black, there was not one swirl when I recieved it, just a couple small marks that I got out today and not even sure if they did it, could of happen during delivery of the car, cause the marks were outside of where the white sticker covers were on the body. Came off easily though. I have had the car since the night of October 4th but 4 days after that it rained for 8 days straight so wasn't even able to wash it, let alone detail it.

I used ALL Poorboys products on the car... I reserve the Poorboys products for show cars and when I detail mine of course(HA). I started with the wheels and wells, using the spray & rinse wheel cleaner diluted 50% with water I throughly washed the wheel wells(this car has the wheel wells like the BMW in the back now, kinda like a sound deadner I think it is, makes it harded to wash them out though, dirt and leaves stick to it more). I use the stainless steel fire hose type nozzle though. I did the whole inside of the wheels themselves and brake calipers also with a seperate was mitt. And proceded to wash the whole car with SSS car wash. Throughly dried with 2 nice microfiber WW drying towels. As I was drying the car I sprayed a small amount of S&G on each panel.

Then came back with my strong shop vac and blew all the water out of the cracks and wheels.

This morning was part two, the car was in the garage over night and had only been out when I went out a short distance for a few hours last night so it was pretty clean, just went lighltly over the whole car with S&W and a couple microfibers. The finish was in perfect shape and smooth so I broke out the PC with a blue Propel pad and some Pro Polish on 3.0 and then after it hazed over went back with the PC and Microfiber bonet at 2.5. Looked good... Next step was EX and a black Propel pad on a PC at 2.5. Waited an hour and went over it with another Microfiber bonet and PC set at 2.5. While the EX was curing, I did all 4 wheels and exhaust tips with Pro Polish, followed by the Wheel Sealant(loved the look and maintence factor of it on the CL-S of this combo). Impressed again, Steve.... I had recieved alot of comments of the wheels too even know they were stock.

Now, I think I will go over the car with another coat of EX and Wheel Sealent next weekend so I am well prepared for the winter driving. The car stays in the garage except when I obviously have to go to work and sits outside there(stinks). Then next spring I will get some Natty's on there.

The only thing I did to this car was tint it... 35% on all side windows and 20% on rear window... Wanted to keep this one lighter than last one... a little classier. And the only thing I wanna do to the car, mods wise, is replace all the screws for the front and rear liscence plates with stainless steel so no rust. This car needs nothing, has bluetooth built in, navi, huge 8 in. screen, full voice commands of everything, tire pressure monitoring system, all parking lights and 3rd brake are LED so very bright and so many other things.

So I hope everyone enjoys the pics... I didn't take any pics of interior cause I didnt do any work in there yet. It needs small vacuming and leather and vinyl treatment before winter though. If anyone wants to see pics of that, let me know and will post them after that is done....

I love the car so far, only has 485 miles so far and it's my first new car at 29 yrs old....

All enjoy.....

PS- You may see some dust on the paint cause it was real windy with the trees after I pulled the car out of the garage. Couldn't help but wanted to snap some freshly detailed pics.. So sorry about that in advance. It's nothing in the paint or waxing dust... just stuff that was blowing around outside. The color is Nighthawk black pearl, so there is some blue metalic flakes in the paint though.

I hope I didn't go to crazy giving the whole process....

Nice ride! Makes me miss my 03' CL-S.

The detail came out great. I love EX on black cars.

The window tint looks great as well.

is the tint 35 or higher? doesnt look to dark. i have considered putting tint on my truck but we both know how strict nj's tint laws are. i believe its NONE on the drivers window and non on passengers window. i think atleast 35 should be allowed but whatever. car looks great btw

35% on front and back windows.. and 20% on rear window.... NJ state law no tint on front windows at all and doesnt matter what percent or rear.. never been stoppped in 5 yrs(knock on wood) i am a cop though... just drive right and you wont get stopped

Awesome new car. :)

Paint looks really good too, goes to show proper light polishing and a quality LSP can improve even a brand new car's appearance...even one that is swirl free already.

nice car........HORRIBLE orange peel!!!!!

>>>>>wet sand that mutha!!<<<<<

That IS some bad OP! Too bad on a black car... :furious:

But it's a great car(I love the DVD-Audio system! One of the best OEM sound systems out there!)

Nice detail. That 3/4 rear shot looks very, very wet! :woot:

Congratulations on your first new car!!! :woohoo: There is not a better feeling than when you roll out of the dealership with the first one. The TL is a great car. Two of my buddies drive them and they both love them. I also almost bought one, but decided I wanted to stick with two doors. Dollar for dollar I think this car is the best deal on the market period.

Great car. I absolutely love mine. I can't agree more about the audio system. I have The Eagles, Dire Straits and Metallica and more on DVD-A and they all sound amazing in the car. Mine does have some orange peel on it. Luckily, silver hides most paint imperfections pretty well. I have thought back to the other cars I could have spent this kind of money on, and I am not dissapointed one bit. I see that yours has Michelin's on it. They must have switched from Bridgestone's for 2006. Everyone seemed to hate the Bridgestone's. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

Now that you guys talk about that, I realized that my wife's Accord EX came with Michelin's and a guy I work with that has an Accord LX got Bridgestone on his. I wonder what there thinking is with all of this. I hope they don't think the Michelin's are a more premium tire, because the ones on the wife's car are absolutely terrible. They may very well be the least grippy tire I have ever driven on outside of truck tires. The Michelin Pilot's are good tires so long as the factory is paying for them(very $$$).
