2005 Lexus GX470

Detail time!
The detail up for today was a relative's 2005 Lexus GX470. As many others around the country, we have been having some weird weather recently. There have been rain showers almost every day for the past week and today looked to be promising. Right when I got the SUV there was a light shower but no big deal. It was rain free until 2 minutes after I delivered the vehicle, when the skies opened up. It was delivered back to their work so it has to sit in the rain -- the water beaded though :rockon. At least I didn't have to drive it in the rain and get road grime on it ...

Anyways, the specifics of the detail. Knowing that there was a good chance there was going to be rain either today or shortly there after, I didn't want to use an LSP that would streak if it got wet without fully curing. The paint was in fairly decent condition with minimal swirling or marring. There was a bunch of contamination which seems to be a trend on huge SUVs. So I decided to use a 4" LC orange light cut pad on the PC with Poorboy's PwS and I removed that with the new OCW. I figured this combo would leave the least amount of LSP residue behind which could streak in the rain. The interior was dirty because of two kids and was relatively easy to clean. Nothing a little water, Folex and a LGCM couldn't take care of.

Cliff Notes:
Wash
Clay
PwS, PC7424, 4" orange pad
OCW
Hotshine on tires
Trim shine in wells
Folex on carpets
Meg's Gold Class on leather
Invisible Glass

Optimum Car Wax. I too like PwS, mine is running low. I really like that it can correct and protect in the same step. I don't know of many other products of its kind that can remove the light scratches pictured above. Plus I love going around a vehicle polishing and not removing the product until the whole thing is done, a huge time saver! Thanks for your comments.

Oh yeah, and I used Optimum Protectant on the interior pieces.

bud was that a single process of the P-w-S?

It looks great...also love the back mat with the strips..I do that on all my mats and the customers always say something!

PwS was the only polishing step, yes. For added protection I went over the vehicle with the Optimum Spray Wax. There were a handful of those very light scratches (just barely into the clear), so I spent a little more time on those areas and PwS + $" pads took care of it.

I agree Budman that is a good combo of products PwS and OCW. I use it on cars at work that just need light cleanups.
